RJ45 Cabling for Home

Solved

Hello,
I have a few small doubts regarding the wiring of my house in RJ45 (I will send you some photos), I plan to change the location of my box to make the various RJ45 sockets in my house functional, so I will connect my box to the DTI meter in my garage (apparently that's the only solution).
Currently, I haven't made any modifications; the gray box on the left is connected to the different living areas, bedrooms 1, 2, 3, and the living room.
So, do I just need to connect my box using RJ45/RJ11 to the gray box? (I am on ADSL)

Thank you in advance for your responses

Hello,

In principle, you should connect the box to the line output of the phone splitter (tel splitter, top left), but the connection to the Test socket of the DTI also works. And in a female RJ45 socket, you can connect a male RJ11 plug.

After that, you will need Ethernet cables to connect the 4 ports of the box to the 4 outputs to the wall sockets in the apartment. You should not use the current black cables, which should only be used for telephony.

For the Ethernet distribution, in case of malfunction, you will need to check the wiring of the output sockets and the wall sockets. It is often seen in installations where only 2 wires out of 8 are connected, which is sufficient for telephony/ADSL.

Best regards

Hello,

Thank you for this very quick response. Indeed, I just realized that the black cables already present are probably for telephony. However, there are 4 cables coming out of each entry (living room, ch1, 2, 3), so logically the 4 cables are connected to each corresponding RJ45 in the respective rooms?

To verify the wiring of the departure sockets as well as the wall sockets, if verification is really necessary, how should I proceed? If you can guide me, I am open to it.

Thank you!

Best regards.

On the 4 sockets (living room, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, bedroom 3), the white cables above go to the wall sockets in the rooms. The black cables connected at the bottom need to be replaced with cords connected to the box.

If after installation as indicated above, the connection from the box to a PC in a room does not work, the wall socket needs to be dismantled and visually checked how the wires are connected, and the same for the sockets in the central box.

Okay, that works, thank you very much! I'll take a look at that!
