My laptop only works when plugged in.

Hello,

I had a battery issue (my laptop lasted only a minute max without being plugged in), so I replaced my old battery (which was indeed dead) with a new one.
However, less than a month later, I noticed that sometimes my laptop would shut down instantly if I unplugged the charger while it was charging. In these cases, the battery icon is crossed out with an X and shows 255%. Additionally, it’s impossible to turn the laptop back on without it being plugged in.
I find it strange that this happens with a new battery, but at the same time the problem seems different from the previous one. Do you think I have an issue with my laptop, or could it be related to the new battery?

Thank you for your response.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 85.0.4183.121

    Hello,
I think the charger is inseparable from the battery.
You might have bought a new battery if the charger isn't doing its job; it needs to be changed as well.
Please let us know what your PC is... desktop with a tower or laptop (brand and model)?

Yes, mine but it's a laptop. His too, it seems?
The battery has always been plugged into the mains since it was purchased (May 2017) and its wear percentage is constant... 3.1%!

    Hello
I think the battery you bought is also faulty because on the day you purchased the new battery, there was no cross on it, and if the cross appeared after use, it means there's an issue with the new battery, and it will need to be changed once again.

I contacted the store where I bought the battery to have them check my computer; I hope it's the battery causing the issue and that it will be resolved quickly.

Important point that I forgot to mention:
Your battery and charger must be from the same brand as your laptop. Avoid "NoName" products, especially from the Chinese.
