Hello,

I'm trying my best to configure my email accounts (Mail) as well as possible, but I can't get rid of the Junk, Trash, and Bulk Mail folders.

I would like everything to go back to my inbox like before; did I change something?

Can you help me?
Thank you all
FRANCOISE

    Hello Françoise,

The management of these boxes depends on how you have configured the spam, trash, etc. folders in Mail preferences, and this for each account taken individually. For example, you can choose to have spam messages, the trash, sent items, etc. all stored locally on your Mac or to keep these messages on the mail server. This can be found in the Mail menu / Preferences / Accounts / Mailbox Behavior.

That said, the "Junk", "Drafts", "Outbox", etc. folders, which are an integral part of the mail service, will always exist on the servers. But you can choose not to see them by hiding the relevant sections in the left sidebar of Mail. You can hide them without risk as long as you have set up each account so that all relevant messages are moved to the "On My Mac" mailboxes, including spam and trash, allowing you full control.

    Example:

To display the boxes on the servers, and especially to hide them, you hover over the account line to access this arrow:

I hope this clears things up a bit...

Happy holidays to you as well ;-)

EDIT: On your Mac, you can see the additional folders of an IMAP account that are present on the mail server because an IMAP account is synchronized with your Mac. If your email accounts are of the POP type, you won't see these additional boxes, only your local inbox and your local folders that are "On My Mac"... but a POP account is much less flexible and has no synchronization between your devices. An IMAP account is often much more flexible and comfortable to use.

    Hello Françoise,

These folders are very likely folders that exist on your mail server, and you see them on your Mac because your email account is of the IMAP type.

I don't know the mail server you are using, so I don't know if it is possible to delete these folders, but you will most likely need to try from the web page of that server. However, if your issue is in the Mail application, you should be able to hide these folders by hovering over the line of the relevant account. Example:

    Hello Francis,
Sorry for not replying sooner; I didn't see your response.
I have several mailboxes that I find at the top of my screen in the "all mailboxes" section.
Then I find them at the bottom of the page one by one, which I didn't have before, with several sections in each, I'm sending you a screenshot.

In the example, I have two sections, archives and archive… Where do they come from? I haven't created anything!
I'm willing to delete them, but I wouldn't want emails to come in and go who knows where afterwards.

Is it possible to have the following configuration at the top of the page:
All mailboxes (for example, 3 email accounts)
    - Françoise
    - Personal
    - Tintin

    With in each mailbox:
    - inbox
    - sent
    - trash
    - spam

    I hope I'm being clear...

Thank you again for all your help over the years… And have a great end of the year.

    Francis,
    I’ll take a quick look at it;
