How to back up data in OneNote

Hello

Am I in the right forum? It's not easy to find!

I'm using OneNote, which is becoming more and more substantial in stored data, though I don't know where!
How can I back it up elsewhere or personally to protect myself in case there's a problem someday?
I tried downloading everything as a .ZIP file. Is this .ZIP really effective for restoring in case of a problem?

Thank you
Best regards

Hello,

OneNote is Microsoft, not Google. I moved your folder to the generic Office forum because there isn't a specific OneNote forum.

By default, your OneNote notes are saved in a folder. You can find its location by clicking on the File tab and then on Save and Backup.

You'll also find everything you need to know about saving.

Hello Marina

Thank you for your response. I often find it difficult to locate the right forum; the world of technology is so vast.
Regarding One Note, yes, I just saw that there is a premium version. I use a simple free version "One Note from the Web," not the one with Office, and there apparently isn't an option to back it up; under the File tab, I have very few choices.
Is there something similar at Google? Or perhaps another product? I used to use "SMENU," but I recently changed my mobile phone and haven't been able to use it again, so I had to redo all my notes for the migration.
It's good to make backups regularly. Do you think that the One Note database is secure enough that there is little chance (or misfortune, rather!) of data loss occurring?

Best regards

Hello,

Oh yes, it's OneNote for Android then. These notes can be synced to your OneDrive and, quite frankly, I see no risk at all.
Look here:
https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/office/synchroniser-des-notes-entre-un-t%C3%A9l%C3%A9phone-android-et-un-ordinateur-0288aab7-9a46-4b86-b324-0c151c8f684f

For example, I have stuff on OneDrive that dates back about twelve years when it was called SkyDrive or maybe even before, and it's still there!!

That said, apart from converting certain pages to pdf, I don't think there's a way to retrieve them locally.

Regarding Google, I don’t use it so I can’t tell you much. There's, I believe, Google Keep. That said, I think it will be online too...

Thank you for your response,
Yes, I have already tried doing transfer tests, recordings and others without much result the same when going through OneDrive
When you talk about synchronization with OneDrive, I don't understand what that means! Yes, I saw that it contains all my notes by blocks, what does that mean? What else can I do with OneDrive for my blocks without entering a block? What is the relationship between these two apps for?

Is the memory used between OneDrive and OneNote the same storage location on a hard drive somewhere in the world or a different place? Does the memory volume used by OneDrive for something else also include the memory used by OneNote?

Yes, I looked at Google Keep and also SimpleNote and Evernote but I prefer OneNote for what I want to do as it suits me better compared to SMENU that I used before.

So as you reassure me, I don't need to upgrade to the Premium version included in Office 20xx and paid.

Thank you
Sincerely

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud. This is where your data is saved, including your OneNote data.
So it's just a storage place for you.
