I have a VN 1100PC dictaphone and its software, but I cannot read what is in it. I have reinstalled the software several times, but it still doesn't work. Please get back to me.
Hello!
To successfully transfer files from the dictaphone to the computer, you need the software. However, in some versions of the VN-2100PC, for example, it is not included.
Therefore, download the Digital Wave Player Software from this address:
http://www.olympus-europa.com/consumer/2590_software.cfm?category=8&productgroup=347&product=&os=7&result=
on the Olympus website.
Once the file is unzipped, install the software by clicking on Setup.exe
The computer will handle everything on its own in the XP version.
But once the software is installed, the computer does not recognize the dictaphone. Normally, when it is plugged in, a help window for installation appears. You need to specify that you do not want to run the automatic update since you will install from the provided drivers.
And then, miraculously, you just need to click next for everything to happen automatically.
To transfer the files, you will then need to find the software in the start menu once the dictaphone is connected, open it to get a window with two "boxes", one corresponding to the dictaphone's folders and the other to the folders on the computer. Dragging and dropping should normally suffice to transfer the files, which will default to
Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Digital Wave Player\Message
There you go, hoping this answer has been useful. I don’t claim to be a computer whiz, but intuitively that’s how I managed to solve my problem.

Thank you Acerna,
That's exactly how a friend helped me out two days ago. I don't remember seeing that famous installation help window when I was installing it. But my friend, an IT specialist, of course, was lucky enough to come across the window and click the right option. And everything works!
It's exactly what I've always thought: computing is for the lucky ones, and I don't belong to that group...
Thank you anyway for your reply. I’ll keep the proverb from the end: those who think little, make many mistakes. Very nice, I'll bring it back out.

And what if you used it, in addition to bringing it up again?
In any case, thank you for the enlightening answer that stems from the intuition inspired by our friend(s?).
I have the impression that everyone has the same problem, the use of computers being always so poorly explained
to novices, but not necessarily clueless either, as some, including the salespeople at Fnac, like to suggest, who indulge in their jargon-filled and condescending garrulousness towards the average user, who, after all, is also a consumer!!

Hello,
I would like to buy a voice recorder to record lectures in auditoriums, classrooms, and seminars.
The rooms are not equipped with sound systems.
Is the recording and sound quality of your device good enough? Thank you
Who should I ask for information, knowing that the sellers always say it's the best!!!

Hello everyone. I have an Olympus VN 4100 PC voice recorder, I installed the drivers on my PC and they are supposed to start automatically when the recorder is connected via USB cable to the PC. Unfortunately, every time I try to open the drivers, it doesn't work because Windows detects a problem it can't resolve. If anyone can give me some advice, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
I'm looking for the software that comes on the CD provided with the Olympus VN240PC
Can someone help me?

I installed Digital Wave Player on several computers and I still can't transfer my files from the dictaphone to the PC. DWP doesn't start when the dictaphone is plugged in and when I launch it manually, it doesn't recognize it. Does anyone have a solution?
On the side, you have a USB port (small connection)
you plug the cable here, then into a USB port on the computer, and that's it... unless you haven't installed the driver that is on the accompanying CD "Digital wave player."

Hello and thank you AiRpLaY for your response.
The problem is that unfortunately my girlfriend can't afford to buy the dictaphones you recommend from Yamaha. She bought an Olympus VN-3100PC for around €60 which seems pretty decent.
As for the batteries, I think the simplest solution would be rechargeable batteries.
Thanks again and goodbye :)

According to the documentation I saw online, you should have a CD with "Digital Wave Player." Install it and it should work.
You could go check the official Olympus website: maybe there, besides the updates, there are also the software.
Hello,
I have the same issue with my Philips Digital Voice Tracer 7576
I've posted a lot and always get the same kind of responses, including from Philips (finding "unknown device," reinstalling the driver or uninstalling it, but reconnecting with the recorder already plugged in, etc.) but nothing works; I'm still at the same starting point.
In your response above, you say, "Normally when you plug it in, an installation help window appears. It should be specified that you do not wish to execute the automatic update since you will install from the provided drivers."
Nothing like that for me, yet maybe it's a lead -> how to get that window to appear?
Any other tips are welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Pascal

Hello
I'm adding a little problem I'm encountering with my Olympus VN 3100PC:
When I turn it on, the letters C HK appear and I can no longer do anything with the device. It is stuck. Could the hard drive have failed after a few hours of use??? The problem will be to recover the recording.
So if this error message and its resolution mean anything to someone, thank you in advance for the tips!

Hello,
my girlfriend, who is starting medical school, also wants to get an Olympus to better follow the classes and take notes on the diagrams at the same time. The lecture hall is apparently equipped with sound.
Could you recommend a specific model that would be suitable and, if possible, under €80?
For those with Vista, I can only advise either reverting to XP or migrating to Windows Seven, which is far superior to Vista.
Thank you for your help.

Hi. No need for software. The VN5500PC works like a USB stick.
You connect it via the USB cable, then go to the computer. Click on the VN5500PC drive and you'll find 5 or 6 files. Open the first one or another, depending on the type of recording, and you'll find your recordings.
If you want to edit them, you'll need to convert them using the free program: Switch sound files converter and manipulate them with the free program as well:
Wavosaure.
And that's it.
Bye

Hello everyone,
I have an Olympus vn-1100 PC! I have Vista on my computer. I installed the driver. Whenever I connect the Olympus, my computer informs me that new software is connected. It searches for the driver, finds it, and tells me it's ready to use. But when I open Digital Wave Player, I can't find the folders from the recorder; everything is empty, as if it doesn't recognize my recorder.
Have you ever encountered this kind of problem? Do you have a solution?
Thank you in advance!
Pauline

Hello,
Here is a link:
https://www.onedirect.fr/produits/olympus/olympus-vn5500
The big problem with these recorders is that they are very power-hungry.
https://www.pourlesmusiciens.com/section/studio_3.html?PHPSESSID=s2dfj4c5rl2t5rkaebvm5a3gl6&keywords=pocketrak&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&marque=&id_sc=&min=&max=
On the other hand, these ones are more expensive, work with a rechargeable battery provided. And no software is needed to import your files unlike Olympus. The Pocketrak CX lasts over 24 hours recording.
Tell your girlfriend to think carefully before buying, as the batteries can be very expensive.
Have a good start to the school year.
