PTT phone cable (Orange) ripped off... Convert it to aerial underground!

Hello everyone,

My overhead PTT cable didn't withstand the strong winds at the beginning of this year (February 2020), just a few weeks before the lockdown.

Already weakened by various roadworks in recent years at the foot of the wooden pole, causing it to lean toward the public road and straining the cable between the pole and my house, I had to reattach my drip board several times where the PTT/France Telecom/Orange hook was anchored.

In February, everything was ripped out: the hook, the box, the cable, and during two storms, I did what I could to reconnect the wires with splices and duct tape to hold everything together since the scotchloks had blown off... It's not ideal, but it did the trick because we had no phone, TV, or internet!

Then COVID-19 arrived, the lockdown, and so on, and I left everything as it was.

Today, I am determined to get everything back in order and switch to underground wiring. I took advantage of the ENEDIS power cable burying works in 2019 (at my request) to run a conduit at the foot of the PTT pole on the public road while it was open at that time.

My concern now is what procedure to follow regarding Orange?

Should I report a problem with my physical line from the pole to my house (line ripped out) due to the winds in February and at the same time request the removal of the overhead line for an underground transition?

Or should I request a modification of the line's path?

In both cases, what costs will these interventions incur?

Thank you in advance for your help and feedback on experiences.

A++

Hello,
https://dommages-reseaux.orange.fr/dist-dommages/app/home
as for the cost of the modification, they will decide, but it should be minimal if the pole in question is at the property line.
the repair is free.

Hi Brupala,

Thanks for your message and link.

Yes, the pole is practically touching my fence and the 40mm conduit is waiting at its base.

So if I declare an issue with my line using the form, I can't simultaneously request a change in the routing :(

Should I declare the problem and call by phone for the modification?

declare the cable fixing problem already, and see on-site to request an underground repair.
You may need to install a manhole at the property boundary:
