Hello, having a startup problem with my already old hard drive, I would like to clone my system onto a new hard drive (20,000 hours already, by the way), but on Macrium Reflect an error appears quickly:
Clone failed - Error 9 - Read failed - 23 - data error (cyclic redundancy check)
I need your help please, I would like to have a clean system, but I must be doing something wrong. I want to specify that I have reset Windows before cloning and still have a good machine.

Hello,
Let's keep it simple: your hard drive is dead or nearly dead with this type of error "Clone failed - Error 9 - Read failed - 23 - data error (cyclic redundancy check)", so there's no point in trying to clone it because in this specific case, the new (even after resetting Windows) Windows operating system will also be inevitably corrupted.
You need to completely reinstall Windows on a new internal hard drive.

Thank you for the efficiency of your response; I can't seem to part with it, 40,000 hours on the clock x).
How can I reinstall Windows with an old Windows 7 CD? Do I just insert it again and let it guide me?

You need to change the internal hard drive first (it's dead, as explained) or it will be doomed to fail...
Windows will not function properly on a defective hard drive, and it will be corrupted again as well.

Your hard drive is in " Warning " status with CrystalDiskInfo, so it is dying as explained in the first response.

Actually, I retrieved another internal hard drive, it's connected and working, hence my attempts to clone the disk to the new volume which is in a "good" state.
Should I boot with my Windows CD and my new internal hard drive or can I do it from my desktop by resetting Windows?
My hard drive is indeed dying but it starts after 2/3 reboots so I can still use the PC for now.
Thanks again for the time given!

Hi,
Check here to install Windows 7 from a USB drive: https://www.malekal.com/comment-installer-windows-7/
Now, this version is no longer supported.
You should consider upgrading to Windows 10.
It can be done for free by installing it directly:

Can I still reuse my old Windows 7 CD to reinstall it before switching to 10?
Sorry, it's been more than 6 years since I last reinstalled Windows, things have changed a bit since then :'D
