Touchpad and mouse locked laptop lenovo

Hello,

For a few months now, I've been having a very annoying problem with my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2017 model) laptop that I've had for a year, bought second-hand.

When I use the laptop, every 5-10 minutes, the mouse freezes on the screen and I can't move it. Sometimes, it even disappears! The touchpad becomes unresponsive, as do the other ThinkPad buttons.
Generally, the keyboard still responds, allowing me to continue using the laptop, but sometimes it also stops working.
The fingerprint reader also started glitching around the same time.

To get the mouse working again, I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it up or restart it.

Eventually, one day I encountered a blue screen at startup with a smiley face " :( " and a message explaining that the laptop had a problem and advising me to contact Microsoft support.
  • I tried pressing Fn+F3 (the small lock) but nothing worked.
  • I tried using a standard external mouse, but it was very difficult to use.
  • I updated all the mouse drivers and everything else I could update.
  • Then, I thought it might be a bug or a mishap on my part, so I reset it, hoping everything would return to normal.

Result: the mouse glitches less and the keyboard almost never fails; however, it still freezes every 20-30 minutes randomly, preventing me from using my laptop properly.

Do you have any idea what this might be? Any suggestions? A website where I could learn more?
Do you think it can be repaired, or do you advise me to buy a new laptop?

I contacted Lenovo technical support, but no one wanted to listen to me or give me advice because I bought it second-hand and it is "too old since it's from 2017."

I've tried to give you as much information as possible; please help me!

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hello, have you been into the BIOS lately? It could be that it was a bad manipulation, or if that's not it, try changing the touchpad (you can find one for not too much money).

A menu accessible before the operating system starts, so I think it's a touchpad issue.
