AIDE Connexion d'un lecteur DVD à une TV sans péritel
Hello,
A long time ago, I knew how to use this LG RC988 DVD recorder, I did everything with it, VHS to DVD copying, playing DVDs and VHS... I wanted to use it again but it's impossible to connect the LG player to the Samsung TV I have... no picture on the TV even when I try to make the connections.. Here are the pictures of the plugs: so the LG doesn't have HDMI and the TV doesn't have SCART so that's where it gets stuck, I can't remember at all how I connected them back then, I don't think I bought any special adapter... thank you in advance for your help.

Hello, if it's just to read a DVD, I think this converter could do the job.

It's almost the price of a DVD player.

If you want to reuse your device for other functions like TV recording, the tuner of this equipment is analog, you would need a TNT decoder as well.

Hello Mr. Andy, yes thank you I think that's it indeed I've never used a converter, here are the photos, I tried but it didn't work too well, can you confirm that I put the green cable in the green end and reconnect the other end in the red green blue of the LG? And I choose source on the TV? AV? COMPONENT?
For the audio I don't have the red and white on the TV nor the adapter to connect to the yellow socket, I think I used the square optical cable.

I don't understand this jack adapter...
For the video, simply connect the red, green, and blue RCA cables between the "component IN" of the TV and the "component OUT" of the scope
For the audio, the red/white cable between audio L R of the TV and the LR output of the scope (under component)

Good evening again. So yes, it would be easy like in the manual attached to the equipment, but here are the three video ports red, yellow, and white do not exist, see the photo. All connect to some kind of jack plug with the cable I sent you a photo of. I don't know what this type of adapter is called, and then I don't quite understand the connections as they are red, yellow, and white instead of red, green, and blue. I'm not sure where to place the yellow, green, blue, and white... only the red is found on both ends...
As far as I'm concerned, I understand better now, so yes, RCA cable red green blue between this jack adapter in the green jack socket of the TV and the RGB outputs of the monitor
For the audio, there should also be an adapter of this type:
To be plugged into the yellow socket of the TV

By the way:
AV IN input of the TV = Yellow video = composite input (one signal only)
Component input = red, green, and blue component video = 3 signals and therefore better image quality

Regardless of the color of the plugs, connect red to red, white to blue, and yellow to green, and do the same on the other side at the jack adapter of the TV.

Good aperitif
thank you for your help, but unfortunately it doesn't work red to red white to blue green to yellow or the other way around for yellow and white... no signal on the TV...
ah it annoys me I should have noted it down 5 years ago, really couldn't the TV have one scart or the LG one HDMI, it's poorly designed!!
I'm also reading on other sites that apparently yellow red white and red blue green are not the same things...
have a good evening

Hello,
I'm here to help ;-)
Here are two clear images for the connections:
For the image
For the audio
Do it with the means at hand, you know ;-) and the images are clickable for real size enlargement for better visibility ;-)
You shouldn't connect the yellow for audio, only the red and white ones ;-)
That should do the trick ;-)
Best regards ;-)

Thank you Mr. STARGATE, yes yes I did that at the beginning as indicated in the manual but it's incomprehensible, it doesn't work. I should mention that the TV works well and the LG DVD player does too, whether it's a DVD or VCR on the 'component' source, it says no signal... I only tested the picture because I don't have that small audio cable. Back then, I used the square optical audio cable but I don't think that if I don't connect the audio the picture won't work either? This is so annoying!!!
Is there another solution??
Is there another solution??
Ok, better late than never ;-)
And I have a nice surprise, but you should have known it by looking through the TV manual, there is indeed a SCART socket on this model!!! But, as Samsung never does things like everyone else, this SCART socket comes in a different form than what we know, and you must have definitely received the adapter in the TV box.
This "new" SCART socket made in Samsung is called EXT (RGB), it is located between the antenna port and the AUDIO COMPONENT IN:
And here is what this adapter looks like:
It is provided with the TV.
This might solve your display problem on the screen, of course, the image quality will not be the same as with an HDMI connection but since you were using this connection with your old TV, I think it should suit you ;-)
Best regards and good night ;-)

And while browsing the online manual on the Samsung website for your TV, I am surprised when you tell us that you do not have the JACK - RCA cable (Yellow - Red - White), it is stated that it is included with the TV, the same goes for the SCART adapter:

Damn, I don't have the special Samsung TV SCART cable, where can I find one cheap???
I have this one, won't it do the trick??

Thank you, friends. Yes, oops, I didn't see the link, but post 32 on the link, the SCART is female and not male?!!!
