Hello,
I have an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablet that still works, but because of its old version of Android (4.1.2), many apps are no longer compatible/downloadable on this device...
According to the internet, an update to Android 4.2.2 was rolled out in several countries in 2014, but not in France... (I should note that when I search for updates on my tablet, it tells me that no updates are available).
Apparently, according to the internet, some people have managed to install this update (through rooting the device). I have basic computer knowledge, but this seems a bit too complicated for me, and I'm afraid of messing things up...
If someone could clarify this for me, it would be really nice :)
Thanks in advance!

Nothing stops you, if you really want to, from installing this firmware yourself using the small Odin PC software. This one is for Luxembourg, so no worries for you. Of course, make sure to back up everything because everything will be reset to factory mode..
