Hello,

I own a Nintendo Switch and I would like to buy a Nintendo Switch Lite for my brother. We each have a Switch account linked to a Nintendo account. I would like to know if, for example (I will try to be as clear as possible): I have a physical game that I start with account A on Switch A. I stop playing at level 3. Can I play on Switch B with the same game but on account B (so start the game over) and stop at level 5? When I resume the same game on Switch A with account A, will account A have to start over from the beginning, or will it continue its game from level 3?

Hello, the game save data is stored in the console, not in the cartridge.

If you replay on account A (Switch A), the game will resume at level 3, and if you replay on account B (Switch B), it will resume at level 5.

Note: there are no restrictions regarding the use of a single cartridge on multiple Switch consoles.

But can I play on Switch B with Account A without having to start everything over (level 3)? (And the same in the other direction: play on Switch A with Account B level 5).

And for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, since all players are on the same island (Switch A Account A/B), is it possible to play on Switch B while keeping the island with both accounts?

As long as you have a game compatible with "Cloud saves" that allow you to transfer saves from one device to another, as long as you're using the same account. This isn't the case for all games, so it's not always possible.

For the second question, it's impossible to say. You would need to check what the game says regarding that.

However, you need to check that the games in question are compatible with cloud saving; this is not always the case. Pokémon games, for instance, are not.

I checked, and the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons is not, so if I understand correctly, I can only play the game on one console because if I play on another, I would lose my data, is that right?

That's the idea. You can play it on another console, but without the saves you have on the first console, unless you have a memory card that moves between consoles like the game. But, you might as well play on the same console for that.
