Hello everyone
I have some knowledge of computers and
I recently had the idea to add RAM (to have 2x4GB) to my Lenovo G50-30 laptop
To start, I removed the back cover and found a 4GB stick installed in the configuration like this (the brackets represent the support and the written spots are on the plastic:
[4GB base RAM]
^slot2 slot1v
A hole in the plastic but no visible support
I would like to know if there really exists a slot 1 like that on the G50-80 model
I welcome any answers that can help me ????

    Hello
I don't think you will find an empty slot
however, it may be possible to replace the 4 GB stick with a single 8 GB stick
you need to make sure to find a stick with the same specifications, that part is still doable) pay attention to whether the original stick is standard or "low profile" as that’s important if you want it to fit
and I haven't found the info on the maximum supported RAM; this PC is getting old! I'm not sure it’s worth buying anything for it!

Ok thank you very much, I think I'm going to invest in an 8GB to avoid lagging and continue playing on my other PC that’s more suited for it because I'm going to change the processor and switch to a Ryzen 5, but I don’t know which one, although I think I found a compatible RAM stick.

    re
an OEM license that is already installed on a new PC is linked to the PC
if you change major components (motherboard, processor) it is akin to changing the PC in computing terms, which means you might not be able to reuse your current license. Although most often it's the motherboard that matters since the license is in the BIOS, you never know.
There are ways to avoid this but I'm not knowledgeable enough to explain how to do it in detail.
However, if it happens to you, you can always buy a standalone Windows 10 license in your choice of version (Home or Pro) for around 10 euros online.
Cheap, but when you consider the price of the processor, plus the cost of a license, plus possibly a RAM stick, it adds up to a budget that should be compared with the price of the repaired PC.... you won't recoup it in case of sale.

be careful with the Windows license if you change the CPU and RAM
if it's an OEM license (originally provided with the PC)
