Unable to export an iMovie video Solved

Question

Hello,

I made a video montage on iMovie and every time I try to share or export the file, I immediately receive an error message: "Sharing failed," with details:
The operation could not be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1).

I have looked everywhere and found nothing on this issue, do you have a solution to my problem?

Configuration: Macintosh / Safari 11.1.2

Among the solutions, there are:
- the one proposed by "wuwieeee Feb 19, 2016 7:52 AM" which is very simple: just restart the Mac

- the one proposed by "kammersell Jul 28, 2016 7:21 PM" which involves restarting the Mac in safe mode. It seems to have worked for several people as you will read.

same problem for over a week on my 2 iMacs (one from 2007, the other from 2018) with 2 different OS and 2 different versions of iMovie regardless of the project

Hello,

In the link I provided earlier, namely this one https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6454828, the things that worked for some were:

1- Simply restart the Mac

2- Restart the Mac in safe mode.

3- Download iMovie from the App Store, then install iMovie without having previously uninstalled it. This is somewhat similar to what Asket did here

4- Duplicate the project and choose a render in 720p instead of 1080p

5- More complicated: move the "Compressor" folder located in the Contents/Plugins folder of the iMovie application, then launch iMovie which should crash, then put the "Compressor" folder back where it was, then relaunch iMovie which should finally export

I tried all of that but nothing works  I'm doing a time machine and reinstalling my OS as described above  Thanks for all the advice!

the only thing is that the export button doesn’t work, you have to go through "file" then "share" which takes 2 seconds longer

Hello, File, Share, Cinema (default). You will find your video in the "Movies" section  Then you can share it wherever you want.

A problem that has just made me furious in front of the sudden failures of my film exports. I just found the solution for my case with my old Mac running El Capitan. Update: "Additional update for Mac OSX" "This update resolves an issue related to the opening of certain 32-bit apps"

I imagine that a fix has been made since the messages from April that suggested recovering files via the terminal.
