Grey crosses on icons

Hello,
On my desktop, I have gray crosses on some Word or Excel icons, and with those icons, I can't open the concerned file.
I can create another shortcut, but that one doesn't open the file either.
Right-clicking on the desktop background doesn't work either.
I can't find any effective answers on other sites.

    Hello, I'm also interested in the solution because I have the same problem. I'm wondering if it happened after an update to my PC.

      I still don't have a solution to this problem.
      I have a more important one that I can't seem to fix: the file explorer is not working anymore...

      Hello, I managed to delete them by reconnecting to my Microsoft account and no more gray crosses on my documents.
