gray crosses on my files

Question

Hello,

I'm bringing up this topic because none of the solutions I've seen work. Most of my icons in the Win 10 explorer have a small gray cross in the bottom left corner, and I can no longer open these files. These files represent months of work, I'm in a tough spot.

Can someone help me open my files?

I had seen this page, but it is not Google Drive since I do not use it. I have Dropbox but I stopped the synchronization and it doesn't change anything.
I can't access the Microsoft page mentioned.

I did that, indeed there was a Windows update on 10/22 (my files are checked up to that date). However, here’s the thing:
After 2 hours of system restoration, the system tells me that the restoration could not be completed!

My files are still checked and therefore inaccessible.

This thing has made me sick! I really need help, thank you.

Hello,

I had the same problem, and I found only one solution:

- Transfer the files/documents that have that gray cross in the bottom left corner of their icon, to a USB drive or external hard drive.

- During the transfer, you will receive an error message (see screenshot below) "an unexpected error is preventing you...." or something like that, you need to press IGNORE and the transfer will continue without damaging the file, and it will be able to open again like the others.

- Double click on the file/document that is now on your USB drive or external hard drive, it opens correctly again.

- You just need to transfer your saved files back to your PC.
The operation is a bit tedious, but it still allows you to reopen your documents affected by this problem.

WARNING: It's better to use a blank USB drive or external hard drive because it may be possible that this manipulation erases the files already saved on these devices.
