PC shuts down as soon as I press a key on the keyboard

Hello,
I think everything is said in the title.
The computer shuts down as soon as I press any key on the keyboard.
Everything else works, the virtual keyboard is not a problem either.
I tried to update all the drivers using DriversCloud, after reading a post that talked about the same issue and seemed to have been resolved, but the problem persists.
Do you have any idea for a solution?

    For this type of problem, the indications you have provided will not be very useful this time since you likely have a short circuit or a loose connection at that key.

    However, I cannot advise you to disassemble a laptop as it can be very delicate in some cases (up to 40 screws and often breaking invisible clips like glass). The few attempts I made resulted in imperfect reassemblies (twisted keyboard, casing broken in places).

    That being said, there are videos and articles on disassembling certain laptop models, but it's a risk you have to take.

    Furthermore, once disassembled, you would need to identify what is actually a malfunction, possibly solder or repair the membrane by crafting a strip.

    In short, it's better to consult a professional and ask for a quote.

    Hello, and thank you for the suggestion of the external keyboard!
    I was able to test it:
    - while typing on the external keyboard, no problem
    - the problem persists as soon as I press a key on the laptop's keyboard

    As for the specifications of the laptop, here they are:
    - brand: HP
    - model: Pavilion dm4
    - version of Windows: Windows 7 Home

    (I hope these are the relevant details you were looking for, I don't know much about computers!)

    Hello,

    For the time being (while waiting for a suggestion from an intervenor), I would connect an external keyboard to see if the phenomenon persists.

    Furthermore, I don't see how anyone can find a solution without knowing the brand and model of the PC as well as the version of Windows.
