I bought the game yesterday and had the same issue. In fact, Shazam removed the photo function in the latest versions.
You need to uninstall Shazam and download an older version.
If you're on Android, go to this site. https://androidapksfree.com/shazam/com-shazam-android/old/
Get the version from December 19, 2017, version 8.2.1

Same issue on iPhone. They indeed removed the scan code feature. Apple, which bought Shazam, has significantly modified the app to make it like iTunes... and they removed the feature without considering all those who purchased the game... which is still for sale by the way!! It's really lame on their part ????
