My PS3 often freezes.

Hello,
I have a PS3 Slim and it often freezes during gameplay, mainly in BO2 and GTA V. I also can't seem to launch GTA V online, and I had a lot of difficulties reinstalling GTA V on the PS3, likely due to the fact that my disc is scratched. I took it apart, blew it out, cleaned it, and I take good care of it. I was wondering if changing the thermal paste on the CPU could have an impact on the freezing issues. I think if the paste heats up often and has been there for a long time, it must be worn out. So I was wondering if changing it could reduce the freezing.
Thanks for your answers and have a good day!

Hi, try changing the thermal paste on the CPU (especially if it has never been changed). The freezes may come from the CPU overheating. When there are freezes, do you hear the fans on the Play spinning faster? Does the Play get hot?

    Hi,
If the PS3 doesn't overheat, changing the thermal paste is pointless..

Normally, when the PS3 overheats, it shuts down, and I can't remember if it's when it shuts down or when you try to turn it back on, but there is a sequence of colors that displays on the small LED of the console. It's a debug code that helps to know why what is happening.

You could try installing a demo of a game from the store and see if it does the same thing with a digital game (everything on the HDD).

Also, check that the firmware is up to date in the settings.

Has this console been hacked/chipped or is it original without modifications?
