Hello,
Let me give you a bit of context. My cat vomited on my power strip, and we cleaned it (once it was unplugged of course) with a dry cloth and a damp cotton swab since it had already dried a bit. Later that evening, I plugged it back in and connected my phone charger and my laptop charger to it. I then heard a crackling sound, so I quickly unplugged everything. There was a strange smell coming from my chargers too, but maybe it was just at that moment?
Overall, the power strip shows no signs of blackening. I won't use it again, but I want to clarify that I didn't see anything black on it. However, my chargers have taken a hit. I've attached the photos I've hosted. The "two silver prongs" of my phone charger seem to have developed some "rust," and both it and the laptop charger are "damaged." But there’s nothing black on them either.
Can I still use them? Is there a risk for my phone and laptop, or could it even cause a fire?

Hello,
Any electrical equipment that has been spilled on by any liquid should no longer be used, cleaned or not. It's the best way to create sparks (and the crackling indicates there have been some, visible or not) and risk a fire.
As for the phone charger and the laptop charger cable, even if they seem fine, they have been overheated and I wouldn’t trust them anymore.
In conclusion, with anything electrical, we must ALWAYS be vigilant and the power strip should never have been reused after the cat's "visit"...
Best regards,

A little thank you to the site volunteers costs nothing, just like marking a topic as resolved when it is :)
