Hello,
I find myself in a bit of a dilemma and would like to get your opinions on it.
I reserved a PC at my computer store, but due to an error, it turned out that it was no longer available and would not be delivered. I am therefore offered two options: either receive a full refund of the deposit paid, or take the display model. It is a HP Pavilion desktop tower. The seller confirmed to me that in their stores, the towers were on display but not plugged in, so in the end, apart from gathering some dust, that's all they do. Now, I'm still hesitating. It's 800 euros after all, and I don't have any discount since this price was already on sale.
What do you advise me to do?
Thank you in advance for your advice :-)
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 79.0.3945.130

Hello
They are offering me two choices: either to be fully reimbursed for the deposit given or to take the display model. It is a HP Pavilion PC tower.
Since it is the same one you wanted, ask the seller to start it up and see how it works.
Check the version of W10 that is installed; it will give you an idea of the PC's build date.
Look at this page for the versions of W10 click here
Personally, it happened to me to buy a display PC in a supermarket (that was a while ago, back when it was Vista), but the PC still works today with W7, and I even installed W10 to see if it would run, and it did.
Later, I went back to W7 because I have other PCs with W10.
Ask what kind of guarantees you will have, etc., regarding the PC you had reserved.
After that, it's up to you to decide whether to buy it or not.
If you have any questions...

re
Your doubts may be justified, but you can always ask for the guarantees, etc. that you would have when buying this PC
Otherwise, you need to buy the components and assemble the PC yourself
Depending on the PC you wanted, ask on the site if someone can advise you on the hardware related to the configuration you are looking for
PS: I'm not an expert in hardware (gaming PCs, etc...)

See you

Hello,
You can buy it without any problem and negotiate a small gift, whether there are sales or not.

Reading the responses is good... Responding to them afterwards, for the sake of politeness, is better...

Hi, forget it, it's not a good idea to begin with for appliances, so for a computer it's not certain that the store will provide you with a base service by exchanging it for a new one within 7 days; generally, this type of device has a certain count for returns, if the store only has the display model left, it means that all the return stock has been sent back due to failures.
I will request information by going there in person, starting it up won't give me the assurance that it will work well in the long term. I'm sure it works, but it's hard to know if it hasn't been roughly handled and if it has never been plugged in. Unfortunately, I can only rely on the seller's good faith for that... A difficult choice because I really liked this PC and it matched my search criteria. If I turn to other identical configurations, it ends up being much more expensive...
