How to adjust "Task Display"? Solved

Question

Hello, I just changed my computer, W10 is installed on it. The "Task View" button on the taskbar, which used to allow me to find all previously opened documents without having to search for them in their folders, now only shows the last opened folder... How can I get that function back, the one that let me find the last opened documents via this "Task View"? Thank you in advance for your help! Franck   Configuration: Windows / Firefox 72.0

Here it is, I found it! By chance, obviously, as always in these cases. You need to: go to "settings" then to "personalization" then to "start" then flip the switch "Show more items etc." to ON.  There you go! F.

This gives exactly the same thing: display of the latest opened files, not the documents themselves...

If the button or icon 'Show Active Applications' called 'Timeline' does not appear on the taskbar:  Activate Timeline using a REG file Download/Save Enable_Timeline.reg If your ad blocker prevents the download, disable it if you have one.  Then run enable_timeline.reg 1- Click on the file → Yes → OK 2- Restart your computer.  Or right-click on the file enable_timeline.reg Then → Merge Click on the file → Yes → OK Restart your computer.   This modifies the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System The registry key in the right pane → EnableActivityFeed Value data: 0 = Disabled 1 = Enabled  The proposed reg point sets → 1 = Enabled  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Activity History: Check that it is enabled. To do this, go to Settings → Privacy  In the left column, click on the line → Activity History Check the box:  - Save my activity history on this device  Uncheck the box if you do not want to be tracked (it's a snoop):  - Send my activity history to Microsoft   A+  -- pistouri

No need to manipulate the registry or the reg point, it was only if the "Show active apps button" Timeline button or icon didn't appear.  And that's not the case since you can see it; the manipulation could be useful for other participants if needed.  You're absolutely right, the documents aren't showing, I didn't understand what you were seeing or not.  I thought it was Cortana since it's disabled on my end for privacy reasons, so even if reactivated, it doesn't appear in the Timeline.  I also thought there might be a limit to the number of displays.  So we need to dig a bit more; I don't see where at the moment except in Settings, like the option to show recent documents, but that's in Explorer or Microsoft has removed it in some way. Ah yes, in the settings! One of those two boxes was unchecked, I checked it again. Unfortunately, every time I go back, it is unchecked again...

And I activated "file history" in the control panel.  But it still doesn't work.  I wonder if it's because my desktop is on drive C (the one that contains the SSD for ultra-fast startup) while everything else is on the huge drive D...

Hello,  Happy for you, your tenacity and insight have finally paid off, well done. As for me, it’s not working, for the simple reason that there’s an unchecked box in the activity history. Indeed, I changed my security information for my Microsoft account, and I have to wait a month (I find it ridiculous on Microsoft’s part, just to change to receive information via email instead of SMS since I don’t use my smartphone; imagine for a minute if you change your password, for example). I will come back to let you know if it works, for now it only remembers the visited web page.    Moreover, it’s incorrect, I can’t log into my Microsoft account.
