Asus laptop screen flickering on battery Solved

Question

Hello,  I have been having a little issue with my Asus R556UF laptop lately that has been bothering me. When I'm on battery, the screen starts to flicker when I reach about 40% battery, making the laptop unusable until it's plugged in or charged again. My old battery was very worn out (70% wear), I replaced it, thinking that might be the issue, but the problem persists. I updated my graphics card, just in case, even though I knew perfectly well that the problem didn't come from there (the issue occurs on Windows, Linux, and when the laptop starts). So I duplicated my screen to my TV to see if the problem was with the video card or my screen, and there was no issue on the TV, which leads me to suspect a problem with the screen itself.  I have two questions: if it is indeed a screen issue, how come the problem doesn't occur when I'm plugged into the power? And on which website can I find a screen (not too expensive)? (Second part of the question) since I couldn't find the exact screen on Amazon and Cdiscount, are all screens compatible as long as the connector is on the right side? Hello, I had the same problem but it disappeared after resetting the power options to their default values.

Hello,  This screen must be LED... and it requires a bit of current to function... The battery of this laptop doesn't have much power, I can imagine that it's the backlighting that dims or turns off and causes this issue for you... The power shouldn't be a problem with the power outlet..  -- You could significantly reduce the brightness to see if the issue is the same under those conditions..?? Especially since it's related to what you display on the screen.  -- As for the panel, we can certainly find it... since it exists... However, to find the same one or a true equivalent, you need the reference numbers written on the back of the panel... For that, you'll need to open the cover in two to access the panel, unscrew its fasteners to flip it over... and read the references or take a clear photo..  It should be this kind: 15.6" 16:9 HD (1366x768)/Full HD (1920x1080) with Asian references... but it can be found.  There you go for some reflection... And happy new year anyway.

So, I understand your response... for example, the charger says 19 volts and 3.42A on it... that doesn't prove it outputs 19 volts from that charger nor that it can deliver 3.42 A.. (even if new) since you mention a "Problem," we need to get the measuring devices out and check... in this case, we place a 100-watt bulb on its output and an ammeter in series and we read the values... if that's really what is written on it...  How do we find out that foie gras is actually a mixture of other things...? Someone suspected it and then we did analyses... when everything is fine and no one complains, we don’t measure..  Your new battery could have been manufactured in 2015 and remained on the shelves since then...??  You’re going to say I’m mean... it’s true that I push the limit in the text, but I’ve learned to be suspicious, for my reasons... and I’ve found some things..  Anyway.. you did well with your photos, that’s already a good reference point to start from...  -- I don’t know the age of your computer... but it’s still a bit normal that it works well when it’s new and blank... However, as it ages, it accumulates, it fills up, we become demanding and it consumes more and more (not to mention the hard drive)... then, like with humans, problems increase with age and all we ask of it... In my opinion, this PC lacks electrical power since its design.. Endurance is not planned.  -- There’s no flickering on the TV because the TV is powered by the 220 outlet and not by the PC's battery... Only the video signal passes through... Do you have both screens displayed at the same time?? or is it one or the other?  -- It remains that your PC has a problem, but if you want to go through your studies without spending money, you have to think of some palliative solutions: 1° reinforce the battery 2° change the screen if that’s not enough.-- so Money.

I have the same problem with my Asus X555L. When the screen flickers, it stops when I plug in the charger. I reinstalled the system on the computer to reset all settings, installed all the drivers, and the screen continues to flicker. I unplugged the charger (so powered by the battery) and connected the computer to an external monitor, result: the laptop screen flickers but the external monitor displays cleanly. I conclude that the problem certainly comes from the screen and not the battery.
