Windows 7 ULTRA-LIGHT version for old PCs

Question

Hello,  I am currently experiencing significant slowdowns that sometimes lead to my PC freezing with my HP Pavilion G7 laptop, here are its specifications:  - Windows 7 Home Premium - AMD E2 1.80GHz Processor - 4 GB of RAM / 650 GB HDD  I don't know how to resolve these issues of slowness and freezing? Could they be due to insufficient RAM (currently 4 GB of RAM, upgradeable to 8 GB)?   I saw that there is an ULTRA-LIGHT version of Windows 7 Professional, would it be suitable for my old HP Pavilion G7 laptop that is really struggling? Hello,  The first part of the problem (and the main one) lies in the fact that your processor is not powerful at all. It must be more than overloaded (and in trouble) at the slightest request from the system...  Added to that is low memory, which can add a bit more sluggishness. But unfortunately, as long as you have this configuration, you won't be able to do much. Hello,  As mentioned earlier, the configuration is small. We can try to remove unnecessary stuff. It might help... or not.    To check your computer for potential infections and get a general status of the system:  Follow the FRST tutorial by clicking on this blue link. ( take the time to read carefully - everything is well explained ).  Download and run the FRST scan, Wait for the scan to finish, a message will indicate that the analysis is complete.  Three FRST reports will be generated:  FRST.txt  Shortcut. Hello,  Thank you for your responses. I am aware that my configuration is quite limited, but I can't do much regarding the processor, except for adding a 2 GB memory stick to bring the RAM to 6 GB since I have a free memory slot. However, I'm not sure that would make much difference, would it?   Would replacing my Windows 7 Home Premium version with an ULTRA-LIGHT version of Windows 7 Professional improve my PC’s performance and fluidity? It's normal for it to lag. Two antivirus programs installed and plenty of useless software. Hello, Starting from a clean slate... Just an idea that came to mind, which consists of resetting this PC and then applying all updates before January 14th (the end of support for Windows 7). Hello,  Thank you for your advice; I will uninstall what you suggested, including Java, and I will relaunch FRST and send you the three reports.  I'm quite intrigued by your idea MPMP10, even though I wonder if resetting Windows 7 Home Premium would make much of a difference, which is why I'm considering installing a ULTRA-LIGHT version of Windows 7 Pro edition instead to improve system fluidity. However, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if it's a good idea or a big mistake... What do you think?
