The "Other" folder is taking up all the storage space, iPhone X

Hello,

I'm contacting you after trying for 3 consecutive days to solve the problem using the advice given on the forum, and nothing has worked so far. :/

I have an iPhone X with saturated storage (when I connect it to the computer: 169MB free out of 59.6GB)

Steps taken to try to clear it:

- I purchased the 50GB iCloud plan to back up my data. When I then tried to start the backup, it immediately stopped, showing the following message: "There is not enough storage on this device to perform a backup" (the snake that bites its own tail).

- So, I downloaded the AnyTrans software to back up my iPhone data to my computer. I removed the 6000 photos, cleared the Safari cache, reset the iPhone settings, and temporarily deleted almost all my apps except Mail and Whatsapp. The "Other" folder has quadrupled in size and the storage is still saturated.

- I attempted an iCloud backup again. This time it worked but with a new error message: "Some files were not available during the last backup." I'm not really sure what that means.

In short, storage is still saturated and everything seems to be in the Other folder to which I do not have access. I don't know what to do anymore, I can't even access my emails.

I would prefer not to completely reset my phone, do you have a solution that could help me?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello,

The "Other" folder contains system data, cached files, and data from applications.

Since you have temporarily deleted the applications, the data has not been erased. I suggest permanently deleting the applications or removing some saved data to free up space.

      Good evening,

Thank you very much for your help. How do you delete applications "permanently"? Through the Apple Store?

Just to clarify, I only had about ten applications (very common), it seems strangely enormous that their data is using nearly 64 GB of my iPhone, doesn’t it?

      Any other leads?

      Thank you

The space used is enormous. It may be a system bug as it seems to be taking up 62.15 GB of space. I suggest you force restart your device.

Press the volume up button, then the volume down button. Hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears.

Let me know if that changed anything or not.

      Hello,

No, it hasn't changed anything. :/

I ended up deleting the data and doing a complete reset of the phone. Once reset, I didn't reinstall the backup at startup (as advised by Apple support) to avoid reinjecting the system folder issue.

Now that the phone is functioning, I'm gradually recovering my data that I had carefully backed up on iCloud and will manually reinstall my apps from the App Store. It was a last resort solution, but so far the storage seems to have returned to normal.

I hope to recover as much of my data as possible.

      Thank you for your help.
