Hello,
I just bought two rechargeable batteries for my Philips landline phone because the previous ones were apparently worn out. But since then, I can't hear the phone ringing or make calls. How long does it take to charge so we can use the phone again? The battery symbol is blinking, but my name no longer appears on the phone. Also, when I place the phone on its base, I no longer hear the little ringtone indicating that it is properly placed.
Could someone please help me? I really don't want to buy a new phone, especially since I have a directory in this one.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your response

Hello,
I have another idea... your old batteries might not have been dead...???
But the little charger transformer for the phone is unplugged... or dead... or there’s no power at the outlet.
This makes the phone battery drain completely... and it doesn’t recharge...
If you have several devices, you can swap it with another one, and you'll see if the battery charges or not.

Hello
What model of Philips?
Does the phone charge? (indication)
Because Philips uses (abuses) a little "special" trick to prevent the use of normal rechargeable batteries on several models.
But it can be easily bypassed.
Best regards

Hello,
Have the batteries been put back in the right way?
Is the handset working properly? (a long press on the hang-up button stops or turns on the handset)

Well in place it's generally upside down..
Normally, new batteries are pre-charged... and Philips announces 14 hours for a full charge.
The new batteries are indeed NIMH 1.2 volts 750mAh?
Is the socket where the power transformer is plugged in operational?
Is the transformer cable well connected under the base?
Finally, is the transformer block operational?

Are you really sure that the rechargeable batteries are put in the right way???
When the phone is out of the base, what does the battery icon say?
There should at least be, in addition to the battery icon, the one that looks like an antenna which indicates the status of the radio connection with the base.
Does the menu display?

Batteries take a long time to charge, at least 6 hours
I always had this problem with my Gigaset
I bought a charger and charging takes about an hour
I charge all the batteries before putting them in
very simple chargers are inexpensive
You can also use rechargeable batteries in many devices

Just to be sure.
If you still have the old batteries, take one of them and a new one you've purchased, place them side by side with the (+) facing up.
Now look at the base of both batteries, do you see a difference at the end, namely that on the originals there is a part of the plastic insulation missing as shown in the image here, the plastic does not cover the entire area?

The batteries that madmyke has illustrated have the particularity of being plastic-free on the lower part (negative side).
I don't know if the original batteries in a CD560 had this feature, but if so, standard batteries will not make contact on the negative side and therefore cannot charge or provide any power.
Try removing the plastic part over a centimeter on the negative side; it won't hurt.
Edit: a photo of the battery compartment of this device could shed light on the problem.

Unfortunately, this phone model seems to be known for its problems :(

it might be the batteries that are faulty
Don't buy a new phone and do what I told you
In addition to a battery charger, I had bought a battery tester
The batteries we buy that are good for years later are sometimes dead
This tester also tests fuses and light bulbs and is inexpensive
Have a nice day

OK, but if you charge the batteries on another charger... Like one from a camera or a universal charger, outside of the phone... Normally, when you put them back, the phone should work again...??? Or is the problem more widespread than that..??
We can also measure these batteries... to talk with solid figures in hand... and not get lost in assumptions.

What is the little phone charger transformer?
