(I'M NOT SURE IF I'M ON THE RIGHT FORUM)

Hello,
About 3 weeks ago, I went on vacation for 2 weeks but I realized that at the end of those 2 weeks I no longer had my bank card... Is it theft or loss? I checked my bank statement and on the day I left for vacation, €30 was charged to my account and then nothing else even though I hadn't reported it to my bank (I reported it a week later because I hadn't realized it).

I have a few questions to ask you:
1) In checking the purchases, my PIN was not used. I am with Caisse d'Épargne... Will they reimburse the €30 if I don't file a complaint and tell them that I didn't make these purchases?

2) At Caisse d'Épargne or other banks, is it necessary to file a complaint for a small amount of money like €30? Is it necessary to pursue the thief in court for €30 and get involved in judicial matters?

3) The purchases were made online, will the thief be found?

4) If I file a complaint, does my case have a chance of being classified as "no further action" for a theft of €30?

Thank you for your responses.
Have a nice day!!

    Hello Pierre,

You're not on the right forum, but I’m going to reply anyway :)

Basically, here's how this kind of situation works from the bank's perspective.
    - If you report that you've lost your card, then you're responsible for that loss due to a lack of vigilance on your part. The bank won't reimburse you.
    - If you report a theft and point out a fraudulent purchase online with your stolen card, then you could get reimbursed, even without a theft report (I’m not sure) to the police station.

What's important is that no purchase was made with your PIN code. Because if a purchase was made with the code, it means your code was disclosed, and it's your responsibility to never disclose it.

To summarize. Any purchase fraud without needing the card code, no worries, the bank reimburses you as long as it's a card theft and not a loss.

For any other fraud, you are solely responsible in the eyes of the bank.

Regarding the pursuit of the perpetrator, honestly, for €30, it really isn't worth the hassle of all the paperwork this will generate. And the police will never follow up on such a small amount. But that's just my point of view.

    Good luck,

      @dysren >> Hello..
Unless I'm mistaken, pierremoras hasn't replied to you, but I've taken the liberty of "adding" 1+ because your response is very sensible and seems to be the most suitable for his "case"
      Have a good weekend..
