Hello,
I am somewhat desperate because my HP laptop has just died. To begin with, the hinges broke, then on one side (the right), the cable got severed. Just last night, while I was holding the screen up with a heavy weight behind it since it no longer stands, the table moved and the screen fell, breaking the last wire that connected the screen to the keyboard! I wanted to change the hinges, etc., but I didn’t have the means yet!
So, do you know how much it would cost to repair it? And if it turns out to be very expensive, I would at least like to recover my university courses and my graphic design files... and I don’t know how to do that either...!
Thank you for your help in advance!
Configuration: Android / Chrome 75.0.3770.143

Hello,
Simply with a secondary screen, there must be a video output, right? Otherwise, we need the exact reference to see if the cable is available for sale...
Best regards-
Hello,
Using a screen connected to an HDMI output is a temporary solution.
We must not forget that many functions are only accessible from the built-in screen, such as access to the BIOS, starting in "safe mode," etc.
It is not even certain that the initial sharing of a secondary screen (duplication, extension) can be set. -

Hello,
Your computer is almost dead. Repairing it is hardly feasible. It will be costly and the computer is weakened.
For now, I advise you to buy a new computer.
Retrieve the hard drive from the HP (You will likely find a tutorial on YouTube to disassemble the computer).
You will put this hard drive in an enclosure like this one.
It's very easy to do. You will be able to recover all your data by connecting the enclosure to the new computer.
If later you want to repair the HP, all you have to do is put the hard drive back inside.
Have a nice day.-
Good evening,
I’d rather not take the risk of dismantling a PC, especially since I really struggle when I have to install a good antivirus... So I'll use another connected screen to copy my files and, as you said, buy a new PC. It will cost me much less!
Thank you for your advice. :)- It's true that disassembling a PC isn't always easy, even if it's a bit like Meccano with a lot of screws and clips.
I still have some doubts about connecting a second screen, because as I mentioned in message 3, it is based on the original screen (broken on your end) that the role of the secondary screen is defined.
If you're lucky, it will work on the first try. Otherwise, feel free to return to the forum in this same discussion thread. It's possible to type the commands blindly, but you'll need to be guided (without any guarantee of success).
