Darktable/RawTherapee does not work with GIMP

Hello,

I recently installed GIMP. While trying to open a RAW photo in GIMP, it tells me that I need to have Darktable or RawTherapee installed to process the file. I download one of the two programs, but without success, GIMP keeps displaying the same message:

"Opening 'C:\Users\wille\OneDrive\Images\Canon EOS 2000D\IMG_0090.CR2' failed:

No RAW loader is installed to open 'Canon raw' files.
GIMP supports the following file loaders:
- darktable (http://www.darktable.org/, version 1.7 or higher
- RawTherapee (http://rawtherapee.com/, version 5.2 or higher

Install one of them to open RAW files."

I then download the second one and now have both programs on my computer, but the same message still appears and I still can't open RAW files.

Where does the problem come from and how can I resolve it?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

    Hello,
the RAW developer associated with Gimp is UFRaw, but I don't recommend it; it's simple, but the possibilities are limited. Darktable is very good, but I use RawTherapee: very powerful and it allows you to start a work in progress while moving on to something else.
The procedure (once the application is installed): Right-click and choose "Open with" and select "RawTherapee." At the bottom of the window, there is a little gear icon; clicking on it saves the image. First, you need to click on the second button in the right-hand column "Queue" (also with a gear icon) and specify the storage folder and the file format (Tif, PNG, JPG).
If the created images require corrections that are not available in RawTherapee or that require assembling and editing, you should then open them with GIMP.

Note: like all applications, RawTherapee has a file explorer to search for an image on the disk and open it. Be careful, it can open JPGs, but the RAW-specific functions are inactive.
