Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible to erase the grid on this image. (http://i43.servimg.com/u/f43/15/53/11/08/img_7634.jpg) I saw that it was possible with Photoshop, but since I don’t have it... Is there a quicker way with GIMP (or another free software?) than using the eraser??? Because I've had a bad habit of drawing a lot during classes on graph paper, and I have tons of drawings that I would like to edit. But if it’s with the eraser, it will take me forever!
Otherwise, I thought about selecting the bird and deleting the background. But when I select it and adjust the contrast for example, the bird takes all the changes and not the background! How do I invert the selection?
Thank you in advance, and have a good evening!
Configuration: Windows 7 / Safari 535.1

Hello Végers
There’s some work to do ;)
http://i43.servimg.com/u/f43/15/53/11/08/img_7634.jpg
The grid is also behind the drawing...
Whether it's Photoshop or Gimp, it's a bit of a mission impossible
At this point, how do you want to select the bird that is exactly the same color as the grid?

Thank you for the answers!
Regarding your last link Végers, could you tell me how you did it??
Because after, I'm not trying to make something perfect since I'm going to shrink the image and play with contrast and lighting.
Just tell me how you removed the background please? :)
(because I can do it with Paint easily but it's a bit annoying to keep switching between software. =/
Thank you again ^^
