Hello everyone,
I need help to clarify the feasibility of installing an SSD on a Medion Akoya P5279 E PC that is already equipped with a 1TB hard drive.

My PC is way too slow when opening software (Word, Excel, Paint.net, files, etc...) as well as for all other tasks and for games (Sims 4, League of Legends).
My questions are:
1° Can I install my SSD in addition to the HDD?
Do I have the space and the means to connect it?

Photo 2: Motherboard

2° Will I need to purchase a Windows license to install it on the SSD?
3° Which SSD should I choose (Size, capacity)?
4° Are there other sites like "Crucial.fr" to get a list of compatible SSDs for comparison?
Knowing that I would like to use the SSD ONLY for launching software and Windows. The storage remains on the HDD.
5° Is there another site like Crucial to compare SSDs?
I sincerely thank you for your advice and help that will save me from an endless headache.
I am now at your disposal ^^

Hello,
1) It all depends on the number of slots your computer has (the links to your photos are dead :/)
2) If your PC is running Windows 10, the license is contained in a part of the BIOS (at worst, before reinstalling, retrieve your activation key)
3) It again depends on the size of your slots; in the worst case, the size does not affect performance. If you want to install the OS exclusively on your computer, then there is no point in getting a too large one; I recommend this one: https://www.crucial.fr/ssd/bx500/ct240bx500ssd1
4) As for me, I don't know of any site that can help you

Hello,
Normally, there should be a free slot in this case to add a disk.
The links to the images are invalid.
There is no need to repurchase a license. If it’s Windows 8 or 10, the Microsoft account and hardware should be recognized. To transfer the entirety of Windows (to avoid a fresh installation), it is possible to clone the disk.
The choice of storage capacity should be made carefully. Depending on expectations (photos, large files, videos...). However, it should be noted that high-capacity SSDs remain very, very expensive. For long-term storage such as photos, the existing 1 TB drive will serve that purpose, so a low-capacity SSD may be sufficient: 256 or 528 GB if many files and software are expected.
If I may offer my opinion regarding performance improvement, I quickly became disillusioned after purchasing my SSD. An improvement at startup was noted, but no WOW effect. All this to ultimately change computers... What a waste.
Have a nice day,
Best regards.

Hi,
You have 2 free SATA ports, so you can install 2 additional storage devices that use these standards (SSD or HDD in SATA). You have one slot left in your case for a 3.5-inch hard drive, and if you want to fit a 2.5-inch SSD, you'll need to buy a 3.5 to 2.5-inch adapter.
As for the installation, you will need to clone your HDD to the SSD or reinstall Windows on the SSD. Then, it's up to you to set up Windows, your folders, and data in a way that has your SSD for the system and applications and the HDD for large data. Also, remember to look into how to optimize your SSD for Windows.
As for gaming, the graphics card is what's important.
Personally, if you want to clone your HDD to an SSD, get a Samsung SSD with a size greater than or equal to your data already installed on your HDD and use the Samsung Data Migration tool. Then, change the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the SSD at startup. Once you’re in Windows, optimize the SSD and format your HDD to use it for large storage.
I know I’m repeating myself, but it's so you understand well. -
You all helped me a lot; I have therefore decided to buy this one:
Crucial MX500 500 GB 3D NAND (2.5 inches / 7mm)
https://www.crucial.fr/
And to get an additional RAM stick:
Crucial 4GB DDR3L-1866 UDIMM
https://www.crucial.fr/
However, I need an installation kit with it, as all my cables are used for my HDD...
What can you recommend? (if possible, not too expensive) ^^ -
Re-hello everyone,
I have decided to buy an SSD and a RAM stick for a Medion Akoya P5279 E PC which is already equipped with a 1TB hard drive.
Medion Akoya P5279 E:

Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SSD (2.5 inches / 7mm):

Crucial 4GB DDR3L-1866 UDIMM

But I have some questions:
1° What cable (Power + Data Transfer) should I buy that is compatible with my PC and long enough for the connections? ...The cables found online are all too short :-( ...

Photo 3: Power connector view
https://www.zupimages.net/up/19/24/ssbw.jpg
2° Is it better to connect a new power cable to the second connector (Photos 3)?
3° What is the purpose of connector "3" in photo 2?
4° Is it necessary to buy a transfer cable from SSD to USB for cloning the HDD?
https://www.crucial.fr/accessories/upgrade%20tools/ctsatausbcable
5° Is it not discouraged to connect 2 hard drives (SSD + HDD) to the same power connector?
Knowing that I intend to use the SSD ONLY for launching software and Windows. The storage remains on the HDD.
I thank the community for already shedding some light on a few points in the previous topic.
I am now at your disposal ^^ and I greatly appreciate your sharing your time.-
Apparently, from your photos, you're short on cables. If you want to connect an SSD in addition to the hard drive and your optical drive, you'll need to buy a Molex adapter (2nd connector, photo 2) to SATA power, as well as a SATA cable to connect your motherboard to your SSD.
"Is it better to plug a new power cable into the 2nd connector?"
No, if it works like that, it's better not to touch it.
"Is it essential to buy a SSD to USB transfer cable for cloning the HDD?"
No, you just need to boot your current system from your HDD, then clone it. It's only after cloning that you'll need to change the boot order and optionally format your HDD to reclaim space.
"Isn't it inadvisable to connect two hard drives (SSD + HDD) to the same power connector?"
No, why, do you have one free?
