    Hi,
in principle, when you want to switch operating systems, it’s to add features that the other one doesn’t have and that you need.
    What are these features?

It's mainly a principle for me not to let a proprietary system be imposed on me when I can use free software. My phone is without Google (also without Apple ;) ) and Synology's applications are not very compatible! My brother gave me the NAS, and I'd just like to be able to use it.
      Thank you for your question.

      ah principles ...
is it for mobile applications then?
      actually,
if you switch to Open Media Vault or Freenas, it will be simpler, there won't be any applications at all.
except for Windows file clients or FTP or VLC, NAS administration via a browser.

Do you know if I can and how to install it on the Synology DSM system?
      Thank you for your answers,
In addition to the principles, I like to seek understanding! It's frustrating to let things go without putting a little grain of sand in the gears :)

No, I'm responding to you now, but I have no experience with Synology, so I won't go any further. I know that DSM is based on Linux, but that's all. I don't even know if you can boot a Synology from a USB stick with a Linux ISO to start another system.

and Synology applications are not very compatible

    Hi

    Not very compatible with what?

I have one, haven't had any problems in that regard

To my knowledge, you can't install another operating system

Try your luck on one of the dedicated Synology forums

Actually, the problem is the smartphone's OS, not the NAS's...
