VirtualBox allows you to emulate multiple PCs on a single one.
I installed VirtualBox on my Windows XP SP2.

Problem: I cannot detect my USB drive on my emulated operating systems despite help from the internet.

Can someone help me?
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.6

If your virtual machine is running on Windows, here is the solution:

In the VirtualBox GUI, click on USB (the small icon listed in the devices list).

Then check "Enable USB Controller" and "Enable USB EHCI Controller".

Further down the range, you will see a list of icons on your right. Check the first one. A box appears "New Filter 1". Check it.

By clicking further down on the icon representing a USB plug with a +, you will see a list of drivers appear.

Check the one that corresponds to your USB key. Ensure that it adds to the filter window.

In principle, when you start the virtual machine, Windows (the host system) will now look for a driver inherent to VirtualBox (not the one from the native system) and attach it to your virtual machine. Answer yes to all the questions and accept that it is an unsigned driver......

Open the guest system (In my case Ubuntu). It does not yet see the installed driver, which is why you need to unplug and replug the key.

In principle, the guest system should mount your key.

I am also trying to do this on macOS (host system) but I can't manage it. I imagine that it requires scripting the maneuver in the Unix system of the Mac. Any suggestions?

Thank you
