Hello, I'm encountering the same issue: Unable to open the file "filename.idml". Adobe InDesign may not support this file format, the necessary plug-in might be missing, or the file might be missing, or it might already be open in another application.
I would like to know if it's possible for you to convert it for me?!!! I lost my work, and it's very frustrating to have to redo everything.... @contrariness .....
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 71.0.3578.98

Is your software for reading this document up to date?
for example: https://helpx.adobe.com/en/indesign/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-indesign-documents.html

I also tried to open it as a "copy" but still the same message. And unfortunately, I have Windows 10 (by the way, I also have a Mac and I can't open it there either) and the link is mainly for W7 and Vista...
Unfortunately, I believe I won't be able to open it anymore ^^ but I would really like to find a solution....

If it's a file in "Idml," it's for an "inter-version" record..
It should open in all versions since CS4.
However, this format is XML in ZIP compression.
If you rename the file with the ZIP extension, you can decompress it..
But that doesn't mean you'll be able to do anything with it!!... unless you know how to write in XML, of course....
If there was a problem during the file save and the compression is corrupted, it won't open.

But I tried to open it on Indesign 2017 and 2019... and nothing works... I always get the same message.
I started working on a cracked version of Indesign CC, but this is the first time something like this has happened with a file. All the other documents created on the cracked version open just fine...
Do you know how I could fix this?
