MSN.com starts in Firefox unsolicited on Windows 10 startup

Hello,

On this PC, MSN.com opens in Firefox 63.0 on the desktop every time the PC starts (even though I didn't request that)! It's a waste of time since you have to wait for it to finish before you can close it!

I've read part of the vast literature on this subject (apparently, this plague is quite a nuisance), and despite the various modified parameters I've searched for, etc., nothing works. Here is a non-exhaustive list of my attempts:

- Deleted Firefox and then reinstalled it
- Ccleaner does not detect MSN in the PC's startup menu.
- Windows registry files for MSN are absent!
- In the Task Manager, I have this:
RtWLAn (ASUS) Application enabled and the rest disabled.

However, what is curious is that in the "Processes" folder, Edge is activated even though Firefox is set as my default browser, followed by Qwant.

However, I cannot send you a screenshot! How can I retrieve text from the Task Manager?

Could EDGE be the cause of this panic? What is EDGE (wasn't its former name Internet Explorer?)

My antivirus, the classic NORTON Security, is up to date and detects nothing, nor does Malware something.

Now I'm stuck!

Thanks for your help.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Configuration: Windows 10 - 64bit Pro / Firefox 63.0 / Qwant

    Hello,

    You can try this procedure:

Disable the reopening of programs in Settings

Click on the Start button and then on the gear icon (or keyboard keys Windows + i)

Go to Accounts → Sign-in options → Disable the option: Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart.

    Restart the PC.

Ps: I greet Phènix 64 in passing.

    See you later!

Thank you for the idea. It's done. I'll let you know if it works after three or four PC restarts.

Hello Pistouri, after a month of unsuccessful research and trials, your solution is the right one to remove MSN at the startup of Firefox. A big THANK YOU!
