I managed to reinstall Microsoft Photo Pro 10
after my 1TB SATA hard drive failed
replaced by my technician with a Crucial 960GB SSD
"Right click" on the small Windows icon at the bottom left of your PC screen
"Left click" on "shut down or disconnect"
"on "disconnect"
(It won’t want to disconnect because there is an ongoing operation )
" "cancel"
we go back to the PhotoPro installation window
"click" on "restart" I clicked OK
and the installation will continue to proceed without any error message.

maybe a bit late for the response but for me this software is simple and easy to use for an amateur, I have been using it for years and it works perfectly on Windows 10, I had copied it onto a CD from Vista and it reinstalled without any issues without using compatibility.

As fermiparadox says, this software is outdated and I highly doubt it works with Windows 10 even in compatibility mode. This software was designed for Windows XP, Windows 98, Windows Me, which the whole world has always envied us for, and Windows 2000, which doesn’t exactly make us younger....
The possibility of it working and being installed on Windows 7 in compatibility mode may be possible to try, but I’m not sure it’ll work well, and with Windows 10, I believe we have to forget it...

To find the exe, just go to the computer, open the drive, and read the files: there should definitely be an exe or an auto-exe nearby, worth a try. On an old Toshop that’s been sitting at the back of one of my desk drawers, I have this (I’m on Linux and I don’t want that thing anymore), it might not be exactly the same layout but the files are there on the installation disk.:

Well, I loaded the program from my husband's PC onto a USB stick, then had my computer read the stick and tried to resolve the compatibility issue with the EXE program, but nothing worked.
THANK YOU for spending time trying to solve an insurmountable problem.

However, since I don't use the "photo album," I didn't try reinstalling the software a second time as explained in the "discussion thread."

The only issue I'm encountering now is inserting text
the "text - insert formatted text" function isn't working properly
so I'm using "text - insert text."

No, the answer provided by Janik didn't work.
I took up a new photo program, Affinity (paid), which is much harder to understand, and I kept the old PC for other corrections: what a shame!

Forget this completely outdated stuff and use recent software. It will perform much better.
However, you can still try installing it in "compatibility" mode:
