No audio device

Hello,

A friend lent me his laptop because after an update, there is no sound and the sound icon in the taskbar is crossed out with a red cross. When you hover over it with the mouse, the "bubble" says: "No audio output device is installed!" In the "SOUND" category of the control panel under "Playback or Recording," it's the same: no audio device installed. In Device Manager, I have an unknown driver not installed; upon searching, it is APCI\ESSX8316\1, and still in this manager under audio, video and game controllers, I have Intel SST Audio Device (WDM)! The problem is that despite finding similar topics here, no ess8316 driver wants to install, it always says "this driver is not suitable, etc., etc." I admit I'm stuck because even after a complete reset, it's the same. The laptop is a Thomson THN14N120 or NEO14-SE running Windows 10 64bit. Here are some photos:

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

    Hello,

    Download and install --> 7Zip 64 bits

    Download this driver --> ACPI Audio
    and place it in your documents.

    Right-click on --> ACPIAudio.zip
    Select --> 7Zip
    Choose --> extract to "ACPIAudio\"

    Go to the device manager
    Right-click on the device corresponding to ACPI\ESSX8316
    Update driver
    Browse my computer ......
    Choose from a list of drivers...
    Have disk
    Browse
    Go to your documents
    Go to the unzipped driver folder --> ACPIAudio
    Select the file --> ES8316AudCodec.inf and OK.
    Restart.

      Hello and thank you for your help!

      I did exactly as you told me and it worked for the driver installation, thank you thank you thank you!!! But still no sound and no audio device installed, and there's still this red cross on the speaker icon. I will try your method of uninstalling the drivers and Action and searching for changes that worked in one of your tips I read ;-)
