Hello, for a while now I've been having a problem when I want to open a photo; the Windows 10 Photos app opens and then closes immediately with the error message "File system error -2147219196". At first, I thought it was a virus, so I ran tests with AdwCleaner and Zhpdiag, and both indicated that there were no issues. Then I realized that the photos opened with other software without any problem. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Windows 10 Photos app, but it didn't help. I've also completed all Windows updates, so I don't know what to do next, and I'd rather not reset Windows. I'd like to know if you have a solution; thank you in advance.

    Hi,

AdwCleaner is used to remove adware, which is of no interest in your case.
    You should even uninstall it.
The same goes for ZHPDiag, it's useless.
    Only use Malwarebytes for viruses.

Follow the procedure given in this link: https://www.malekal.com/erreur-systeme-fichiers-2147219196-photos-windows-10/

resetting the Photos app was enough!
Thank you very much for the help.
The good thing about Windows is that we're always looking for solutions with each update.
As for me, it was by reinstalling Win 10 to reset everything that I got this error! Find the mistake . . . .

For those who have the same issue, try the procedure on the following page: https://www.malekal.com/erreur-systeme-fichiers-2147219196-photos-windows-10/
A complete reinstallation should solve the problem.

      Hello,

I have the same problem, but when I try to do a complete reinstallation, I get stuck on the process hacker because the interface is not the same as described.

      What does it look like?
Because he only has a single interface Process Hacker.

I found that you have to do Hack / Run As to get the Run As window because I don't have File / Run (which opens the command prompt).
However, I can't find the files

In the second command, the beginning is missing.
      Start over
Maybe the names of the folders differ from mine.

      Provide a capture of:
      cd "\Program Files\WindowsApps"
      dir |find /i "photos"

      ~~

      Press Windows + R
      type winver and OK.
      Are you on 1803?

      Hello,

Yes, I have version 1803. By the way, where do I paste cd "\Program Files\WindowsApps"
dir |find /i "photos"? In Powershell?

Thank you for your reply. I scanned with Malwarebytes, found no viruses, the check disk shows no issues, and resetting the application does not change anything.

Does it happen on all the photos or just one in particular?
In which folder are these photos located?

    Hello,
I am no longer the only one having this problem.
I will try a reset if it continues to persist.

I also have the same problem with all my photos, whether from the camcorder or the mobile phone. Recent and old photos from a few years ago.

    What should I do?

    Thank you
