Hello,
I want to use my mother's CANON PIXMA MG 5150 printer to scan documents.
I have Windows 10.
My computer seems to recognize the printer since I can start printing, but when I use the scanner, nothing appears on my computer after the printer has scanned. I am trying to find out where the scanned document might have gone, but to no avail.
Then I installed the printer driver "XPS MG5100 series v. 5.56" found on the Canon website (link below)
https://www.canon.fr/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5150.html?type=drivers&language=&os=WINDOWS+7+%2864-bit%29
The driver created a recovery folder in "my documents", titled "scanned documents".
I restart a scan. The document does not appear in the "scanned documents" folder, nor in "pictures".
My mother lost the CD and the key to reinstall the printer.
What can I do?
Thank you.

Hello,
Here is the link to the printer's manual:
https://files.canon-europe.com/files/soft39716/Manual/MG5100_FR.pdf
You will find all the useful information for scanning.
You should install MP Navigator, which will allow you, among other things, to choose the destination folder for the scanned documents.
https://www.canon.fr/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5150.html?type=download&language=&os=WINDOWS+10+%2864-bit%29
Generally, scanned documents simply arrive in My Documents.
You also have the option to save them to a USB drive plugged into the printer. This is an option to be set on the printer's control panel.

Thank you for your response.
I finally managed to scan using the "Fax & Scan" option included in Windows 10
(I remind you that I had still installed the "XPS MG5100 series v. 5.56" printer driver found on Canon's website).
The document I scanned appeared in "my documents" > "scanned documents" (a file that the driver automatically installed when I downloaded it).
I will still download the manual you sent me, as my mother misplaced the document.
Thank you again
Claire
