Unable to install Acronis True Image 2018

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to you because I'm having a problem with Acronis True Image 2018.

I need to clone my HDD to a Crucial MX 500 SSD because my hard drive is starting to show serious signs of aging.
I chose this SSD because of its reputation and also because the manufacturer’s website explains everything regarding the cloning procedure with Acronis True Image.
I downloaded the software, but the installation fails every time I try.

I open the installation as an administrator. The installation starts normally, I even see the Acronis icon appear on the desktop. And without explanation, the installation stops with only the message "the installation has failed."
Below, there’s a details tab; I click on it, and it only shows the number {5} next to the database.

I’ve tried everything I know. I’ve disabled my antivirus (yes, I have 2: Avira and Iobit Malware Fighter), the firewall, but nothing works, it won’t go through.

I’m afraid my HDD will fail before I can do the cloning, which is why I’m turning to you in the hope of finding some clarity.

Thank you in advance.

If you have Acronis (full version), there is a procedure to create a standalone application: "Acronis Media Builder".
This application takes control of the system and allows you to clone any disk...

As for the reliability of an SSD compared to a hard drive... not everyone agrees in their favor...

I don't have Acronis... I'm downloading from the Acronis website. I click on the installation folder that I downloaded and it's this step that fails.

You need to check with Acronis customer support...
Their validation system is quite finicky... I had trouble getting the transition from the demo version to the full version accepted after purchase...
It does some protection stuff that eventually stops working when you have an unusual setup!

By not ordinary, you mean Avira and IMF?
That's what I'm trying to do, contact customer service, but the thing is it's only through live chat and the hours are during the day, from 8 AM to 5 PM I think... and during those hours I'm working.

I don't think antivirus programs have any relation, although it's always better to disable them when installing a program...
I was talking about unusual configurations mainly because of the operating systems...

Ask the question by email... they should know what the "5" error is...

That's what I tried to do...still no responses.

    Good evening,
On the advice of a participant in this forum, I cloned my system drive using https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/8465-easeus-partition-master-free/
I hope this answers your question, unless I've misunderstood, which is possible.
    Have a good evening.
    BB.

It's nice of you to offer me this solution, but I prefer to stick with Acronis. It seems simple and effective, and I have a tutorial that explains how to do it. Otherwise, I have planned other solutions if I really need to abandon Acronis, with Backupper Full and Macrium. The problem with these two programs is that you apparently have to choose the partition, and I don't know anything about that, and I don't want to mess things up and risk damaging my brand new SSD :)

Yes, you need to clone to a disk of the same capacity, or larger, to have exactly the entire disk and its partitions; there is nothing to choose, it's a disk cloning, a full copy.

The ACRONIS series is to be avoided like the plague. First, this company offers a suite of software dedicated to security, software that must be purchased separately. It's trendy; Norton initiated this system several years ago, and others followed like Adobe, which is more specialized in the field of photography and imaging.
In the end, one has to shell out the euros.
For my part, I purchased a 3-user version of Acronis True Image for a license valid for 2 years, believing I was making a good deal. Not at all... The software no longer recognizes my backup disk, making it impossible to restore my system. I tried to reconfigure it; nothing worked, it retains its erroneous data, and if you modify it, there’s no going back, the system is buggy.
To top it off, I called technical support and ended up with a salesperson who gave me a phone number. That number told me I need to connect to www.acronis.com/support/ppi, ppi for "Pay per Incident," and I have to pay 20 euros just to get help, what a joke.
Moreover, more and more users are complaining about these buggy versions, not to mention that over the years, Acronis has become a real maze of issues.
So for me, it’s over; Acronis can go take a hike, sorry for the Greeks.
