Freemake Video Converter shrinks the image by two-thirds!

Hello,
I have a problem that I have never experienced before, let me explain:
I downloaded a video file of a movie (H264 MPEG-4 AVC codec, video resolution 712x420, decoded format Planar 4:2:0 YUV).
When I watch it on VLC, the screen is full without black bars, on Freemake Video Converter, the screen is surrounded by two black bars but it is still okay. The real problem is that when I try to burn it using the same Freemake Video Converter, the result once the DVD is burned is that there are two HUGE black bars on each side, which takes up two-thirds of the screen, leaving only one-third of the image in the middle!!!
I've never had this happen (I re-emphasize that playback before burning is perfect...)
Would you have a solution to get a decent image size so that when I burn and watch the movie on my TV I no longer have this unusual result?
I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, so your help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance ;)
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 90.0

Hello,
Convert your video using the software "media coder," in .avi or .mp4 format, if it hasn’t been done already, then with "cd burner xp" burn it onto a DVD!

Hello again,
thank you for responding, but I have already converted it into different formats, including .avi and .mp4, as Freemake Video Converter also allows this. However, it doesn't change anything; the result is the same after burning: the two black bars on the sides become even bigger, and I’m left with only a third of the screen in the middle.
Then you advise me to burn with CD Burner, which I also have; but the thing is I add subtitles (imported) to it, and that’s why I use Freemake (very convenient, by the way, with multi-format conversions, the burning feature, subtitle insertion, and other nice things).
I actually tried burning without subtitles (with CD Burner XP, or directly from my external drive via its menu) just to see if it worked, and the result was perfect… except that I need subtitles, so I have to go through Freemake. Unfortunately, it’s the only one that gives me that damn bad result.
But thank you very much for responding so quickly and trying to help me. I will try to think a bit more to find a solution, or come to terms with it if necessary.
Best regards;)
P.S: I think it’s a frame width/height issue, I will try to tinker with that. -
