My iphone is locked by its user

Hello, I have a problem with my iPhone 6.

My godfather bought me a second-hand iPhone 6 online for my birthday. When I turned it on and put the SIM card in, it asked me for my country, my language... and then it told me that this iPhone is linked to an Apple ID and that I need to log in with my ID to set up this iPhone. It then says that if this iPhone was given to me or bought second-hand, I need to contact the owner to have the iPhone removed from their account.

The problem is that the seller is now unreachable.
Please help me!

    Hello,

There is no other solution than to ask the previous user to unregister this phone from their account.

Without the name and password of that account, you will remain blocked... This is the law of Apple and Google does the same on Android since version 5. It's a protection against theft.

And if the seller is untraceable or has a false identity, you might want to question things.

With the IMEI number, you can check on the Apple website if this phone is blocked, stolen, or reported... etc. Google is your friend. And here, we do not assist in finding locks or other unlocking systems... It's illegal.

Hello again, thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my question, I will check on the Apple website.
I'm not asking for help to search for locks or any unlocking systems, I just wanted to know if there was a solution, but apparently not, that’s a shame....

      Thanks anyway.

No, there's no other solution, and that's normal; it's an anti-theft system designed so that no one can use the smartphone in case of theft.

yes, I just read that.... I'm afraid it might be one....
I'm doing some research hoping that's not the case, but unfortunately it will remain blocked (if it isn't one), nevertheless I think this anti-theft system is really good
      thank you for your response

It's indeed an anti-theft system, I assure you. Ask your godfather to report the online seller; he must still have their phone number or email. If the seller doesn't respond, there's a good chance your godfather was scammed and bought a stolen phone!

      Hello,

yes, that's exactly the problem I have... well, I think I'm screwed, goodbye iPhone,
I had indeed seen that it could be reset with iTunes but I don't have it and my computer isn't compatible with it (of course, otherwise it would be too simple lol)

thank you very much for your reply

It requires a password ;) I haven't done it, but I trust "Fabrice" who searched thoroughly... If your sponsor doesn't have any invoices.... Ask him where he bought it... Surely on a shady website... If I were you, I would quickly contact Apple and provide them with the serial number... Think of the owner... Reachable by phone ;) because I suppose you're not next to an Apple Store ;)

=> You may get compensation; it is very very very likely a stolen iOS...
=> This is a non-chargeable call in Belgium and mainland France
=> For Switzerland, you need to use a landline phone.

Do you know how it ended for Fabrice? Did he manage to unlock it?
Yes, I will call them; I wouldn't want to be in the owner's place if it's a stolen phone.
No, my godfather doesn't have the invoice, but he must have bought it on Amazon or Price Minister; he usually only shops on those sites.

So, inform the website as well: Amason/Priceminister
=> And he definitely has something to print

Priceminister needs to be rated 0/5 before it’s no longer possible...

Fabrice was most certainly a thief ;)
      => Several unlock requests

In any case, today is Saturday, it's today for Apple (tomorrow is Sunday...). I haven't seen the hours, I know they can be reached late.
From memory, they had finished resolving my issue after 8 PM when I called them (very helpful). For Sunday, there’s a risk that there will be no one available.
=> And then you have a stolen product, after all....

Hello LilouYouste, there’s no need to contact Apple, they don't have any service that deals with stolen iPhones.
Moreover, nothing indicates that this is a stolen phone... The previous owner may have misunderstood what they needed to do before selling the iPhone. We’ll stay in doubt, but indeed, if the seller has "disappeared," we can question it.

iCloud protection prevents the use of an iPhone with another Apple ID; we can indeed use the term "anti-theft protection," but this term is never used by Apple. They refer to it as "iCloud Activation Lock." This protection mainly allows you to remotely erase your iPhone when it is lost or stolen.

In any case, only the owner of the Apple ID linked to the iPhone will be able to remove the activation lock. Even though Apple can do it, they won't, because you are not the original owner of the iPhone.

So I checked the Apple website and it says to contact the local authorities.
=> the gendarmerie (Police in town).

    *

    => Seller's disappearance...
=> He has nothing to print!!! We need to know the website....

In this situation, I want to make sure the owner hasn't signed it...
They will tell you what to do for the second-hand website & Apple too ;)

Alright, thank you very much, I will follow what you told me.
I also did some research on my side, I looked up the IMEI, I found a document on this phone, so I know it is no longer under warranty and that it has not been reported lost or stolen, but I will still check in with the police, I will see what they say and I will keep you updated.
