Hello
I have a new PC with Windows 10, how can I recover my albums from Picasa?
Where can I download it? I'm a bit lost, thank you in advance.

Good evening,

Even if you install Picasa on the new computer, you will likely have difficulty retrieving your albums (I couldn’t find with certainty where they are stored; probably in Appdata)

I think the best option, if your old computer is still operational, is to transfer your albums to Google Photos (right-click on a Picasa album and choose “Transfer to Google+ Photos.”
Your albums will be in Google Photos and visible on the new computer.

  Hello, Picasa is installed correctly, thank you very much, but now I need to recover my photos and I don't know how to do that
  Since I have a laptop that is still working, maybe I can connect the two together to transfer them; I admit I'm a bit lost.

Hello Pierr10;

Thank you for the support, but I'm sorry to tell you that I did all of that just this afternoon because I completely reinstalled my Windows 10... I downloaded Picasa3 via the link I mentioned earlier and had no problems getting everything back in place; I don’t miss a single photo! So it works perfectly.... For your information, the photo folder is stored in a partition dedicated to personal documents, so there's no loss, etc......

  I may not have followed everything correctly.
  
  I understood that Sylviecats57 was changing computers and wanted to install Picasa on the new one and recover her albums.
  
  If there is no change of computer, there are probably no problems.
  
  But if it is about an installation on a new computer, I do not see how one can recover the albums.
  Photos will have to be present first; and then the albums will need to be reconstructed or the data transferred from the old computer to the new one.
  That’s why it seemed simpler to me to transfer them online to find the albums in Google Photos.
  
  Now, I am not a specialist, and maybe a lot of things are escaping me...

  To recover the photos, it’s very simple, just copy the folder containing them onto a good USB stick of a few GB that you will plug into the new computer because in principle everyone backs up their personal documents or photos before the PC crashes, right??
  Personally, I trust an external hard drive or a good USB stick more than an external garage, but oh well.....

After installing Picasa on W10, everything was working perfectly. So far so good. Then I changed my PC. The new one is of course running W10, I reinstalled Picasa, which works correctly, except...except...that it is now impossible to choose Picasa as the default application to view photos, Picasa does not even appear in the options offered...strange, strange...has anyone already encountered this problem? And how to force W10 to accept this software as "default"?

  Hello,
  
  Right-click on the photo you want to view and choose "Open with"
  Scroll all the way down the list and select "Choose another app".
  In the new window, scroll down to the bottom of the list and choose "More apps"
  Once again, scroll down to the bottom of the list to find "Look for another app on this PC". Before clicking, check the box "Always use this app to open ...."
  
  The Windows Explorer window opens.
  Select on the left C: > Program Files (x86)
  In the list on the right, click on the Google folder and then on the Picasa 3 folder
  Select the executable that suits you: either Picasa3.exe or PicasaPhotoViewer.exe
  
  Picasa3.exe launches Picasa, while PicasaPhotoViewer.exe only allows viewing the photo.
