Word is waiting for the end of an OLE action

Good evening,

I am working on a Word document and wanted to link it to an Excel table. For a while, it was processing, then a window appeared: "Word is waiting for the end of an OLE action." I clicked on X, then on "retry," then on "switch to," then on "cancel"... nothing works, I can't even exit the file!

Can someone help me?

    Good evening,

    Unfortunately, these things happen for obscure reasons! Sometimes it's a version mix-up when you have multiple versions of Office on your PC, sometimes it happens because both apps are open, sometimes... we just don't know! :( For me, the only solution is to "kill" the process via the task manager.

      You need to press ctrl+alt+delete and open the task manager.
      Find Microsoft Excel in the processes tab and click on end task.
