Hello, My Logitech M90 laser USB mouse is no longer recognized by my HP OMEN by HP Laptop running Windows 10, Intel Core i5 6300 HQ, 6GB RAM, 64-bit system. I have tried other wired USB mice that also do not work, as well as a USB keyboard that is not recognized either. Note that my Logitech mouse works perfectly on another computer. The problem occurred overnight after a WINDOWS update; I only realized when I got to the office that my mouse was no longer recognized, while the touchpad on my computer is working perfectly. I tried updating the drivers, rebooting, turning off the laptop and holding the power button for ' seconds before turning it back on, I also tried Fn F7; F9; F8; Ftot. I uninstalled the driver and then manually reinstalled it. I completed all my updates in the HP support assistant as well as troubleshooting and fixes. ... In the device manager, I used to have a line under SMS/MMS in other devices, with a yellow triangle, which I believe concerned my mouse, but now I no longer have that line. My USB keys work perfectly, and my graphics tablet does too. I cannot afford to lose my Adobe software suite, nor SolidWorks, nor Rhinoceros, so I do not want to reset my PC to factory settings... What can I do to regain the use of a mouse? It is impossible for me to work. I need your help, thank you.

ok, do this:

close all your running programs

unplug your mouse

start the command prompt as an administrator (right click)

in the CMD prompt, copy/paste this CMD and hit ENTER

DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

let the PC work (it takes a good while)

at the end of the scan, you will get a message saying the operation was successful

when it's done, restart the PC and plug in your mouse

right-click on your mouse device

choose "uninstall" and "including drivers"

unplug your mouse (the dongle)

restart the pc and plug your mouse back in (the dongle)

I right-clicked "uninstall device," got a warning message, then it uninstalled but didn't offer "including the drivers"...
status before uninstallation: Windows cannot start this device because its configuration information (in the Registry) is incomplete or corrupted. (Code 19)

I am now going to restart.

Still nothing. The mouse, once plugged back in, lights up (laser) for 5 seconds and doesn't work, then the laser turns off, just like before.

Hello,

Look in the Device Manager, under USB bus controllers; expand it to see them all. If there’s one with a yellow triangle, right-click on it and uninstall it. Close the manager and restart Windows. During the startup phase, Windows will reinstall it.

After seeing the messages from other contributors, it seems that the repair via Device Manager is not yielding any results. We should likely consider repairing Windows or restoring it to an earlier date if possible.

change the battery/batteries in the mouse

It's a wired mouse, I don't have any batteries to change.
In user interface devices, I only have "HP Wireless button driver"
and in pointing devices, I only have the "touch pad".
My mouse is listed under the "other devices" tab

Apparently the restoration is not working; that happens. I think we need to consider a Windows repair. Nevertheless, take the precaution of backing up your important documents, contacts, emails, etc. In principle, the repair should not affect them, but it's better to be cautious.

Indeed, all the software will be deleted, I can't afford that.
The problem will persist... I'll try with a wireless mouse, maybe it will work, that's the only solution I have left.

Good evening,

I've had the same problem since March 1st, my wired Logitech mouse lights up for 4 seconds and then turns off. I switched to a wireless one, same issue. The laser lights up when Windows 10 starts and turns off before login. The laser also lights up when installing the driver and turns off 4 seconds later. I've followed the same procedures as donilafoudre, but the issue is not resolved.
I suspect a Windows update messed up the drivers, but I need to find the root of the problem.
Restoring Windows could indeed be a solution, but it’s a hassle and I have to consider reinstalling the applications.
