My MacBook Pro shuts down unexpectedly.

Hello,

My Macbook Pro frequently shuts down when I work on it (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, TV Paint...) or when I'm playing videos: Basically, when I ask it to exert itself.

It is a Macbook Pro 13 inches bought in mid-2012.
I haven't updated to High Sierra.
I have about 80GB of free space available on my drive.

I'm worried that it might be "old" or that I’ll be told so if I take it for repairs somewhere, but I'm sure there has to be another explanation...

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Configuration: Macintosh / Firefox 57.0

    Hello,

"I haven't updated to High Sierra. ": so what version of your Mac OS system do you have?

Since it shuts down by itself, it must be entering safe mode. There may be a hardware issue or overheating. Are the air intake vents clogged with dust? By removing the back cover, you will see the fans: are they clean?
Check steps 1 and 2 of this tutorial to find out how to open it: https://fr.ifixit.com/Tutoriel/Remplacement+de+la+batterie+du+MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+mi-2012/10365

I also suggest performing the maintenance and repair procedures described here: Maintain and repair OS X 10.11, aka El Capitan, and later versions

      Hello Ritchi

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me.
Yesterday I was swamped with work and urgently needed a functioning computer: I went to have it diagnosed and in the end, my battery (the one I replaced last November) was 98% dead.

I had it replaced again and everything is running smoothly like in 2012.

I am taking note of the maintenance procedures you linked so that I can try to take better care of my Mac going forward.

      Thanks again!
