Very long update

Question

Hello,
My computer is currently updating.
I've been stuck at 54% for over 2 hours. I didn't think it would take this long. However, it seems to be processing, the icon in the center is "spinning".
I was working on an important file. Given how long this is taking, I'm afraid of losing everything... and on top of that, I can't work.
What should I do??? Can we stop the update?

The update has progressed... Since 1 PM (it's 8:30 PM), I'm at 75%... it's very long... Will I lose any data???

Good evening,

I had accepted an upgrade to version 16229.19, but before inviting this version onto my machine I took some precautions.

A) The system partition must not be saturated

Windows will upgrade, if all goes well, by saving the current system and then placing the current system and its settings in a folder called "Windows.old."
"Windows.old" contains "user accounts, personal software, drivers, etc."
It will find a free space in the system partition and move "Windows.old" there.
"Go to the cupboard, a layoff and then an ejection."

B) The system must be up to date
C) The system must not be damaged
D) Avoid inviting a Windows upgrade over the WIFI LAN network; I used a wired network.

PS: The Windows system could interrupt an upgrade for X or Y reasons and unfortunately display a blue repair/recovery screen.

If you do not intervene
the elements will heat up
Windows system will secure the machine, thus interrupting the process and perhaps displaying a blue screen for repair/recovery.
If you intervene during the loading of Windows? So hold the POWER button for a few seconds to turn off the machine, the Windows system will record another shutdown mode in the event viewer and might, I say might, after a system restart show a blue screen for repair/recovery.

PS: The Microsoft server is not to blame, I prefer to warn you "a very very long wait"

I am not going to leave a device running unattended "during my sleep" I think first of my safety.

It has been over 3 hours for me and it is stuck at 95 percent, but I am using my computer; I'll see what happens.
