Acer/Touchscreen

Solved

Hello everyone,

For the past 3 days, I've been having an issue with my computer that makes no sense to me.

My computer is an Acer with a touchscreen (purchased in 2013). The battery is not removable.

So, for the past 3 days and without any shock or any problem, the touchscreen activates by itself. It's as if someone is constantly tapping the screen in the top right corner. As a result, I can't use the mouse.

After much difficulty (using the touchscreen which is now slow), I manage to go into the device manager and disable the touchscreen. And then it works again.

However, as soon as it goes to sleep or I turn it off, it starts again.

I have disabled it, uninstalled it, I have done a driver update, a hardware check... but it always starts again.

I don't know where else to look to make this stop. Especially since I never use the touchscreen...

Can you help me solve my problem?

Thanks for reading.

Hello,

Is there anything present on the screen (scratch, liquid, or product that could have stuck and dirty the panel)?
Aside from the impact, no weight has been placed on the computer screen, even when closed?

In this case, if it has not been impacted, the symptoms clearly indicate an issue related to the panel, either due to an impact or due to a weight that has been placed on it which may have damaged the touch layer, which exerts constant pressure...

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

There is absolutely nothing on the screen. No weight. It is transported in its case.

It is becoming more and more difficult to disable/uninstall the touchscreen every time.

Do you know a definitive way to uninstall the touchscreen?

Aside from this huge and problematic issue, the computer is working very well.

I don’t want to "throw it away".

Get it checked and repaired.

Given the behavior, it seems to be a hardware issue and therefore, the touchscreen appears to have a problem... unless repaired, the issue is likely to persist...

That's what I feared!

There is still something that bothers me...

When I manage to uninstall the touchscreen, there are no more issues. What I don't understand is why the uninstallation is temporary.

If I had THE solution to uninstall the touchscreen permanently, I wouldn't need to have it repaired.

Because the uninstallation tells the computer not to respond...

Except that, the screen being connected to the machine, each time it starts up, the computer detects the presence of the touchscreen, sees that it is not installed, and reinstalls it. That's the basic principle.

For that to no longer be the case, the screen would need to be replaced with a non-touch model, which would mean having it repaired and keeping the touchscreen afterwards...
