Hello,
A question was asked of me, but it seems to concern many CCM users, as it is similar to other requests I've received:
"We are 5 working shift hours; morning shift 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM; evening shift 3:30 PM - 1:00 AM; 7 days a week".
It raises several observations.
- It is essential to specify in which field one works: hospitality-restoration, industry, public works, clinic-hospital, security, etc. Indeed, labor law rules and collective agreements influence daily (here 9h30) and weekly work hours, as well as the duration of weekly rest.
- Such a question must specify whether the agents work in pairs or alone. In the first case, 3 of them will do 6 shifts, totaling 57 hours, while the other 2 will do 5, which is 47h30: this is a violation of the Labor Code. In the second case, 5 agents will have to complete 3 shifts, thus 28h30 in the week, and the last one will only do 2, therefore 19h. This is part-time work ...
- Such a planning project must specify whether the weekend is managed like weekdays; if there should be a balance between morning and evening shifts; whether public holidays are treated differently; if overtime is overpaid or compensated ...
In general, when you ask CCM for help with a schedule, it is necessary to provide as much information as possible, but above all to attach your draft planning. We will strive to improve it, checking the hours by agent, by team, by day, by week ... and working on the ergonomics of the Excel schedule. It is not up to us to design a distribution of work in a team, a company, or a department.
---------------------------------------------------
In addition to these personal considerations, I would like to gather the opinions of other CCM members, especially those who have had to design or modify schedules, or who have responded to similar requests to today’s, in order to support or contradict my assertions and enlighten the requesters on the feasibility of their inquiries.
Thank you in advance.

Hello Raymond PENTIER, hello everyone,
You should have numbered your comments.
1) For the first point regarding the "necessity of specifying the area in which one works." Personally, I don’t need it. Probably because I have no knowledge about it but also because it is a priori up to the requester to master their request. So it's not essential for me.
2) As for "specifying whether the agents work in pairs or alone," I would broaden the necessity of information to include the provision of a target table of HR needs in agents, by day and by position.
Needs can indeed vary by day and by position.
I mention positions because one can be on 2x8 (morning, evening) or 3x8 (morning, evening, night).
3) The last point is quite delicate.
While we can retrospectively address the consequences on overtime, we can also incorporate upstream the constraints of validity of job sequences, and the rest days, either consecutive or not.
It must also be specified whether the established weekly schedule will repeat so that solutions can be adapted to job sequences for the coming Sunday and Monday.
For example, in the image you provided, employee 3 transitions from an evening shift on Thursday to a morning shift on Friday. I presume that given the hours, this sequence is not valid.
Similarly, employee 1 ends the week with an evening shift and, if the schedule repeats, will have a morning shift.
A solver solution:
Best regards
