My son often borrows my smartphone and I don't want him to come across one of my Messenger conversations. Is there
a way to hide a conversation?

Hi,

I don't think you can hide them. But you can put a password for opening apps.

So it seems we could lock apps from the system settings. It's been so long since I've used an Android, so don't ask me ;) But otherwise, there are things like that http://www.prodigemobile.com/tutoriel/verrouiller-acces-applications-android/

Thank you, Rossi. It's a very good idea to encrypt the device, but if I do that, everything becomes encrypted, and I only want the Messenger notifications to be protected.
