The fact that your PC has a 64-bit processor and that the operating system is 32-bit does not mean that your PC runs at half the capabilities of its processor! With a 64-bit operating system, it would be slightly faster but only on applications compiled for 64-bit, so not all applications, and the speed difference would not be truly noticeable to the user. However, what is certain is that in 64-bit, the system requires more memory since addressing is done on 64 bits instead of 32. If the manufacturer installed a 32-bit version of Windows on your PC, it means it has a maximum of 3 GB of memory (and probably only 2 GB). Therefore, you will gain no advantage from installing the 64-bit version of Windows on it: you will have to purchase a new license, reinstall everything, and your PC might even be slower due to a lack of memory if you only have 2 GB of RAM.
